Here Comes the Pain
Superstar
Gotta be slim Charles. Dude is so head tight & on point about his business. Became king by default
McNulty not going to jail for the serial killer thing was pretty impressive
Just like the ones before him he probably got killedI say again, Slim Charles. Never saw a loss and ended up a boss.
Watching the Wire (again).
Ultimate winner = probably Namond since his win doesn't come with any strings attached. He was never going to be a dopeboy so there's no "pull of the streets" with him. He's a smart kid and always had the best clothes and style. Never had it hard in the hood and now he'll have it easier with his new family.
Other winners = Carcetti has a great future but there's no way to know how far that will take him
Herc = if Levy is patient with him, he might have the biggest turnaround. Only issue with Herc is that he ALWAYS cuts corners. He loved policing and still cut corners. In Levy's world, that's a no-go.
Slim Charles = from pawn to queen/king but it's the drug game so that's not permanent status
Marlo = he won, but it won't last since he'll fight until he's dead
What's most interesting is that the black characters that won (for the most part), had to change and grow or exhibit special attributes to win (Namond, Slim, Marlo, Carver etc). The white characters that won basically lucked into winning (Valchek, Herc, Rawls etc).
