Bruh, wtf?

I put spin because this seems relevant given another topic we had recently about SAT scores.

Notice the Chronically Absent column. This is probably the cause and this is why parents need to be on their ass. Any parent who is involved enough isn't going to allow their kid to be chronically absent. Parental involvement seems the main culprit with this shyt...like I said in the Michigan SAT score thread...

Above the fray.
Sad shyt, but it is what it is at this point. The numbers are dismal in most city school systems.

Never saw a chart for absenteeism, though.

These kids just spent the most critical part of their learning lives away from the classroom due to the pandemic.

You can’t solely blame the parents here. This is an entirely new dilemma. It’s likely most of those kids were not behind prior to 3 years ago.

i know just throwing money at these schools doesn't always solve the problems... but something seriously needs to be done at a federal level. the future is dependent on it. whatever we don't now isn't working. and yeah we know it starts at home too, but we quickly approaching a world where most mfs gonna have to be working 80-100 hours a week just to pay their fukking rent in some of these places which is just going to make the problems worse. :francis:

Something...something black kids just learn differently:damn: (Which doesn't even make sense and racist af to begin with)

Something...something the school needs more funding:damn:

Something...something they need after school programs :damn:

Go to any school in NYC it's the same thing. Schools in Baltimore it's the same thing. Schools in Chicago it's the same thing. Schools in New Orleans it's the same thing. Schools in Florida it's the same thing.

Black people really will never really get it, until it's far too late :francis:

The Wrong Side of the Tracks

"As the result of family disorganization a large proportion of Negro children and youth have not undergone the socialization which only the family can provide. The disorganized families have failed to provide for their emotional needs and have not provided the discipline and habits which are necessary for personality development. Because the disorganized family has failed in its function as a socializing agency, it has handicapped the children in their relations to the institutions in the community. Moreover, family disorganization has been partially responsible for a large amount of juvenile delinquency and adult crime among Negroes. Since the widespread family disorganization among Negroes has resulted from the failure of the father to play the role in family life required by American society, the mitigation of this problem must await those changes in the Negro and American society which will enable the Negro father to play the role required of him."

~E. Franklin Frazier, "Problems and Needs of Negro Children and Youth Resulting from Family Disorganization," Journal of Negro Education, Summer 1960, pp. 276-277

Are you stupid? Do you think pre-schools were open?

Each one of those kids has a higher IQ than you, congratulations.
LMAO, are you stupid? or maybe you just don’t have kids, pre schools did reopen, and mainly for essential workers which encompasses the lower paid, and furthermore parents and the works they do with kids has a much bigger effect on K preparedness as preschool is a combination of play, naps, and learning, all of which needs to be reinforced at home given the attention spans of kids
