Well even though I was raised to be a Christian, I honestly don't believe in God the same way other people believe in him. I do believe in a higher power but I hate when people try to explain why God does things. If he is responsible for creating things like the human body and even water, how can people really think they can understand his train of thought. Church has also played a part in my doubt. It seems like every church I go to finds a way to twist the bible in a way there serves their own agenda. I do believe that there is a higher power somewhere and maybe it's just not meant for us to understand who or why. I also do not believe that whoever he/she/it is comes down and punishes us when we are wrong.

With that being said, I feel like religion and God is a good thing for the masses. It's a effective way to control the people and keep people in check. It gives people hope to keep fighting even though in my opinion, the outcome of their situation would be the same whether or not they believe in God.

Absolutely not. I have no reason to. However, if you have some definition of god that's something like, "the universe" or something equally vague and meaningless, I might have to adjust my answer.

Yeah, I figure most people don't really think about it, and aren't really aware of the arguments for/against such an entity. Many people misunderstand what exactly it means to be an atheist.

Saying that he always was and has been was never a satisfactory answer for me.

The other problem I have is the freedom to think far enough to doubt his existence. Which would kind of be like an ego thing. Don't want mindless slaves that worship you but give them the choice to not believe in you. Then there's the punishment aspect for not believing that gets me.

I don't like the word believe, I think there is a higher power but I'm just as open to the possibility that there isn't one as I am to the possibility there is one, I don't buy into religion at all though
