What words or phrases led you to think that I believe in a being that created the world in 6 days and then had to rest. :dead:

I said that I'm a nonreligious theist. Lrn2read

Your concept of god(s) are shaped by exposures to religions you've been in contact with.

So yeah, I bet if you described god, it'd resemble all the notions and characteristics of god you've seen but yet not include the ones you haven't heard about.

You're not as "nonreligious" as you think.

My concept of god is based on us humans progressing from the ground up and creating things on our own. Its based on my belief that if we can do it then if another intelligent life form exists out there then he/she or maybe even they can do it too and possibility have a hand in affecting the universe that we currently live in.

Now as for you specualting on my belief and how it came to be i can use the same logic and say that your atheist belief came about as you rebelling against whatever is popular and currently since religion is popular you were prone to rebel against it.

Who are you to say that I wouldn't adapt to new found facts so that my belief can stand as a belief and not as a delusion anyway.

Not to mention that my current belief came about based on my exposure to science as well which also helps shaped my belief of today. But Im sure you would fail to acknowledge that.

Because 200 years ago, knowing all that you know now, you'd be seen as a heretic.

What you're using is the god of the gaps argument.

You don't KNOW something, therefore god.

I am not using the god of the gaps argument because using that requires the person to claim that they have proof or evidence of gods existence which I am not.

I don't know something. I am guessing that it may be god. No assertion whatsoever.

Could you please not put words in my mouth. Kthxbye

u just said you were a theist. so while you might not believe in the christian idea of god, the fact that you do believe in some supernatural being is at least based in those types of ideas

Your generalizing theism. Cut it out.

Theism defines someone who follows what is considered a higher power. Its a broad spectrum.

Theism is not restricted to only supernatural either.

I explained my view in a earlier post. Read it and act accordingly.
