My brotha I may wholeheartedly have to agree with you. Interscope did him dirty with the second album that was flames.

Yessir!

I remember the original plan was to have it like BE in which Dre was gonna do half and Dilla was gonna do half. Originally he was gonna go over this instrumental for the intro

That would've been so tight if the album would've been like that
Bilal's intro was suppose to be the Africa Rhythms instrumental! :gladbron:
That would've been beautiful! :ohlawd::wow:

What's even crazy at Dilla's funeral B and D were pose to do a duet selection but D didnt show up

Also he killed this joint

@3:16 (sorry dont know how to timestamp)

I personally disagree about Bilal being a better singer than D’Angelo and Maxwell. Sure Bilal can really sing, but I prefer how the two former use their voice over the latter.. and it’s a plus that they have stronger discographies too.

Ok, I get what you're saying.

IMO, vocally, D and Max can't touch him, but you're right, to the average fan, they'll probably rank those two higher.

If I'm not mistaken, breh is a classically trained opera singer too.

Fast Lane was the shyt, but I really don't think he was ever shooting to be a mainstream star.

He's a musician first and foremost.

That first album was something else..

:wow:

Yup
Yeah, Bilal is a classically trained opera singer
And I agree, Fast Lane is the shyt but I don't think he really wanted to be some super star; like u said, he's a musician 1st and foremost
1st album was nice but I love the 2nd album (Love For Sale) even more

Word, i hear u.
I like Bilal's voice more than D's and Maxwell
But I definitely hear what u saying when u say u like how D' and Max use their voices more so; it's all a matter of preference anyway
I love how Bilal sings and sometimes over sings; he knows how to do it right.
D' and Max do have better discographies than Bilal but I enjoy Bilal's singing so much that I even enjoy the songs that are just aight

Agree about having better vocals than D Angelo, but I can’t say Maxwell. Bilal is special though.

What happened with Interscope? Still wonder til this day

I love how Bilal just gets sloppy with the singing and sometimes over sings; he knows how to do it right.

I respect your opinion. As always.

I think Bilal has good range.. he an Max have better range than D’, but for me, Range and doing a lot of vocal acrobatics are just pluses for me. I am a person who prefers how someone sings a song and how someone arranges their vocals. I think D and Max have better vocal arrangements than Bilal. I’m also heavy on harmonies too. I think D’Angelo is the best out the three out of that.. but like you said, it’s all about preference.

Most people think range = being the best singer. But for me, it doesn’t work like that. But we’ll have that conversation when I’m ready.
