yep, and in most of those places its way easier to own property

i understand the emotion, but the reality is that NYC is littered with ethnic enclaves that have disappeared, over the long run its not that serious, the worst solution to this is "affordable housing" ie more housing that people will never own and they will never participate in the economic system

people need to live where they can afford to live and afford to buy

truth, but some blacks are just like anyone else and rent is too high and the jobs does not pay. Atlanta looks better after that, and Miami too but...
I've been preaching this in other threads....dudes just don't get it...
...They just shot Trayon too smh... the south, why move back where your grandparents ran screaming from.

I would bet this is happening in most of the major cities. I expect cities will just become super expensive limelight lifestyles an the rest of us will have to live in the shytty suburbs.
this seems to be happening in london.

I heard in Paris, the suburbs are the poor area/shyt holes.

This kind of struck me yesterday. I was going through where Cabrini Green used to be to go to Goose Island Shrimp House, and I'm used to it being the projects and all. I did not see a single black person in my pass through. Not one. I looked around and much has changed since I was lat there, not even two years ago. It's supposed to be mixed income, but I see nothing but condos and townhomes. condos start at like 280k when I looked. :damn:

White people freely walking, jogging, taking their dogs out for a walk. I was like "where'd the black people go :wtf:" I saw some low rises still around but it's like they don't come out anymore. They even are building a big ass Target store over where one of the project buildings were. I was truly surprised at the speed of the progress of the construction. There was nothing the last time I passed by.

But it was just something that crushes the soul in a way. When where I used to live in Wicker Park, yeah it USED to be bad back in the day, and the change was not as rapid. Took at least ~7 years. Cabrini got tore up with the quickness. I cannot imagine how the people who still might be there handle it.

Also just note the Cabrini Projects were bad, but just saying how fast as fukk things got changed up it has a hit on your insides. Chicago isn't playing games.
Chicago has spats but the blacks are being pushed out the city. the wild weekends won't be a issue in coming years. Uptown needs to watch out though.

From an economic standpoint, the South is more affordable but that's also assuming people first acquire a job in those places. It's like when people say these things, they ignore how much harder it is for a person of color to be hired. But if you can find work then it's definitely easier to come up in places like Jacksonville, Dallas, Charlotte, Nashville, etc., as an African-American. The funny thing is that starting off in NYC as a professional almost always makes you more marketable when attempting to lateral to another city. With that said, Brooklyn, like most of NYC, is phasing out low-income people entirely.

Oh, I plan on moving to Brooklyn next year :manny:

This only happens because a combo of discrimination... and self hate. I just don't get why from 80-2013 we moved out of all these urban areas to live around cac.

Now they are able to purchase all our property and raise the prices so that no black and brown people can move back in. This is our mistake... cac gone cac... but we help them do the shyt. Instead of realizing that the private prisons and legislation is against us.. and fighting against it... we decided the best thing to do was have the most successful amongst us to take the wealth out of the hood - so that that black wealth could help with gentrification 10 years from then.. Looking back at hood nikkas like:mjpls:

I hear this all the time, and it is simply not true. When Black people leave the hood they usually move into middle class Black neighborhoods. As I stated in the other thread in TLR it made economic sense to rent instead of buy during the 80's and 90's, if anyone says they could foresee gentrification in BK in 1995 they are lying. The way laws were set up it made sense to rent instead of taking a chance of buying because as a buyer you didn't want to take the chance that A.The neighborhood could get worse B. You could lose a great deal of whatever little money you had C.The laws lead you to believe that the price of renting over 10-20 years would be cheaper than owning. In hindsight it was a false sense of comfort, but it made sense at the time. If NYC had housing laws similar to Chicago instead of San Francisco, you would have likely saw an increase in home/condo ownership and/or saw less Black people leaving because all these new New Yorkers would have a greater supply of housing to choose from and wouldn't look at the hood as the only option.

First off... the urban centers used to be the areas that everyone wanted to move to.. Suburbs were basically created because of white flight.... black people initially followed white flight. There were very few black middle class neighborhoods.. in NY and even in MI... the black middle class (and fyi middle class isn't just above poor) lived in areas near mostly white people. The suburbs were the place to move to.... until they became too black... then the black middle class who could afford it moved to even wealthier areas following another white flight. Look at a place like Southfield, MI. I saw as a kid everyone I knew who could afford it move there. Now its basically a black ass pseudo suburb mixed w some jewish people. There are so many cheap broken down apts there that house madd hood nikkas.

The best position is to be one of the black people with foresight. . You say "if anyone says they could foresee gentrification" . ... I say a few blacks saw it.. most importantly even some that didn't see it, wanted no part of moving around whites or moving around the same blacks who Created the divide between 'black folk' and 'regular ol niggras'. fukk those people, tbh. Some people are Fortunate enough to not have been raised by or been around those types of people. The smartest black people realize just like the smartest white and asian people realize- the most valuable property always will be in the core city.... for business and homes. I own 3 homes close to the downtown.. my property in midtown has CAC coming every month inquiring if I'm selling or not... basically if I'm just another dumb nigro that will take the money so i can move to the east suburbs - that are basically worthless raggedy cheap over priced areas.

we can't blame it on white people or housing laws. cac gone cac... we can't change their nature or the game that's designed for them. If we initially weren't being sambo ass c00ns in the first place none of this would occur. The wealthy and educated amongst us historically aren't interested in hood people or the betterment of our communities so our money - and our intellectual power goes out faster than any community on earth. We could have stayed and improved out communities instead of following white flight at the excuse of not having a magic ball that determines property value. property value is superficial anyway unless ur downtown or by a large body of water, so miss me w all that shyt.

Exactly! Now you can change the words for north and south and get the same effect.

1. No this is simply not true, I strongly suggest you read someone like Mary Pattillo or check out her video here as she talks about the subject of where middle class Blacks move to at the 9:40 mark And I'm personally critical of middle clas Blacks for various reasons, but leaving the hood when they had a chance sure as hell is not one of them. A Black head of the families first obligation is to their immediate family, and if they feel moving away (even if not so far) is the best option I cannot knock them for that decision. I sure as hell will not go around talking down on them for that choice. You try telling an upwardly mobile Black mother in the South Bronx in the shyttiest school district in 1995 that she should stay there with her two kids because there is an off chance if she buys a house hipsters might come around in 20 years and buy it for 100K.:stopitslime: Given the risk you gonna call her c00n because she wants to get the fukk outta dodge?

2.Yet during the 80's real estate companies in NYC could not give away their properties and many decided to keep the apartments abandoned instead of taking a chance of having to deal with the redlining and the cost associated with it. This was an issue for about 3 decades, this wasn't some 5-10 year swing boom/bust cycle.

3. You should chill with this sambo c00ns shyt, you are spouting some corner of 125th street bullshyt with that one. The Black middle class has tried to help...do I personally agree with alot of what they have attempted in terms of solutions? No, but I can't deny that they have sincerely tried even if I feel the solutions they attempt to put forward are misguided or counterproductive.

I can't emphasize enough what having an African American neighborhood like Harlem in the financial capital of the world means/meant to the black community. A lot of West Indians and Black people own homes in Brooklyn, so things aren't as extreme as they sound. I have a theory that the gentrification hype of NYC is being drummed up by those who seek to profit from it.

We can send our kids anywhere for school with school of choice. And regardless, it's out job to come up with solutions to fix education and our schools - obviously no body else is gonna do it.

I'm not gonna out right call everyone who follows white flight a c00n - but some are. Can we be honest about that. ... the mentality behind it is fukked up.

The black middle class - very very few have tried shyt. They are the type that help get Marcus Garvey in legal trouble, they are the type that rejected Malcolm x at first, and are the type that reject the recent teachings of Claud Anderson because his ideas don't include all Americans. Black middle class are the main ones that push this integration of all our shyt mentality that allows us to throw our resources out of our communities. I say this as someone who knows many people in the 'black middle class'.

The problem in NYC is the same shyt that goes on in any major city. Gentrification isn't only white peoples fault..... we aren't completely ignorant as a people - we should know better than to move away from valuable property -for superficial market reasons--- then be shocked when the white children of the people we Followed decided to move and displace our children 10-20 years later from that so called ghetto worthless property that we didn't want in the first place. That we are crying about now.

I really don't know what to say about elite blacks and 'trying to help'. You say they were misguided - I say that is a fukking understatement.

We can build up our urban areas and make them economic powerhouses. lol @ you trying to pretend all these other reasons are the reasons why we fly away from these areas when in reality it all boils down to .......:mjpls:
