:scusthov: So vulgar. Slave movie or not its a slave movie. It has all the elements of a slave movie. First, it has slaves see. Second, it has slave masters and lastly it has house negroes. These elements are something alot of black folks just dont want to see. Thats why we bootleggin and winnin. :pacspit:

I just saw the 3:50 showtime of this flick and like 70-75% of the audience give or take in my estimate were black..There were even black grandparents with their prebuscent grandchldren and brothers whom brought there girl..Apparently those elements you mentioned don't bother alot of blackfolk...I think the fact that the theme of the movie is a black hero giving packback to white plantation owners/oppressors makes the things you mentioned that may steer blacks away more digestable..

LOL @ anyone saying they don't judge films without seeing them. We all do it all the time when we see trailers at the movies and say "Weak, not seeing it". Also people have blow Spike's comments out of proportion cause the media wanted a "Black Vs White" drama to go with the movie's premise. All Spike said was "I don't want to see it cause I feel the premise is disrespectful to my ancestors, I'm speaking for myself nobody else". But read all the headlines. "Spike RIPS QT, Spike SLAMS Django".

Read all the racist comments from people going at spike from TMZ and tons of other forums. Spike didn't rip anything all he said was it wasn't for him. Yet if you read some of these comments people act like Spike never had a good movie while QT is making his 1,000th Revenge movie in a row.

Again Spike never said anything about the actors, the production value all he said was the premise itself to him is disrespectful and that's his opinion. He doesn't have to see a film to know the premise is disrespectful. "Birth of a Nation" was disrespectful, I don't have to see it to know that, I just have to read the premise of the movie. Spike felt Slavery shouldn't be minimized to a shoot em up western and that's his business to feel that. In no way did he say "QT sucks, Jamie can't act, The movie quality is terrible". If he did then people could say "You should see it 1st" what Spike said fits in with anyone whoever declined seeing a movie cause the trailer or premise didn't do it for them. LOL @ anyone acting like they've never judge a film before seeing it.
I don't think the goal of the film is to "minimize" slavery down to a shoot 'em up. the main focus of the movie has nothing to do with slavery.. It's a revenge flick.. not a slavery flick. Again, Spike is applying his prejudgments and bias to a film he hasn't even seen. His out of control feminine like emotions are clouding his rational mind.

It's a Revenge AND a Slavery Flick. Just like Kill Bill was a Revenge AND Martial Arts flick, you are trying to separate the two. How is it not a Slavery Flick? The Main character and his wife are slaves. The Bad guy is a slave owner who owns a plantation. There are Slaves picking cotton, there are House Negros. Everything about this movie deals with Slaves. Also as I said, you, me, everyone has prejudged a movie at one point or another based on the trailer and it's premise.

Does that make everyone bias? Do you see every movie you've seen a trailer for? Nope, why? cause some stories don't do it for you, some premises don't sound good for you. To Spike he feels making Slavery a western film is disrespectful to history of slavery so that premise doesn't work for him and you know what that's his opinion and could be argued as a valid criticism considering Hollywood horrible history dealing with Black subject matter. At no point did Spike speak on the acting, direction or production value of the film.

how so? I consider myself a concious and progressive blackman but I enjoyed the movie for what it was...even though it used slavery as a platform to tell the story racist slave trading/owning pigs and sellouts /house slaves were the butt of most jokes...i'm kinda immune to the N word considering it's an R rated movie set during slavery time it's kinda expected for N bombs to be tossed around alot.. what did slightly disturbed me was the scene in which runaway slave was murdered but the fact the protaganist(Djendgo) murked all those kaks by the end makde it worh it.

At least make a coherent argument. First you say "we" don't want to see it, then you say "that's why we bootleggin." If you don't want to see it, then why watch it? Did you watch a bootleg of Brokeback Mountain because you didn't want to see homosexuals? Would your response to a movie about pedophilia be to cop a bootleg? Either you don't want to see something, and you don't watch it, or you do want to see it and you do.

This confused argument you're trying to make reveals that ultimately, you do want to see the movie, so either do that and stop all this "we don't want to see this" talk or don't watch it.

The point is, im not giving the makers of the film a dime because of the over the top racist garbage, wanting to see it or not. You have no point fukk boy. In your mind if you feel offended by something you dont want to see it. I dont think like a fukk boy like you. I see what i want but i dont give the nikka whos movie i find offensive, a dime, then i see it anyway. fukk outta here with your philosophical boundaries.
