Bad example but I get your general point. However Chiraq receiving bad reviews across the board for a variety of objective reasons is not the same thing as Spike concluding that Chance is a fraud for a very specific reason. They can both be facts, but only one can be quantified so it does leave room for dialogue and discussion, or as you called it [choosing] sides.

I liked the movie and if his point about Chance's father is true than that's a valid statement.

Spike has a point that Chance's father works for the mayor and that he had a wealthy upbringing. Rather than focusing on the film. How bout he focuses some of his criticsm on his father and the mayor. They aren't doing shyt to save lives either and its their job.

I saw Spike speak here last Tuesday, he did a good job. Spike is my guy but Chi-Raq was terrible, his worst movie in a minute.

It depends on what you were expecting I think.
If you thought you were getting a documentary or some kinda sob story then you'll probably hate it. If you liked do the right thing/school daze, you should at least get where Spike was going with this movie and his Shakespearean adaptation.
I won't go the full blown pretentious route and say it's a movie for "smart" people, but most people that didn't "get it' or question who's life it was supposed to save are usually fukking idiots I find. It's satirical yet still touches on some real shyt.
