yeah i'm praying for a comeback

Him and Tom Hanks got a Cold War Spy movie coming out this year called "Bridge of Spies" it was shot mostly here in NY. His next movie after that is the adaptation of the Classic Roald Dahl story "BFG". He's the legendary Author of other childern's classics like "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" and "Matilda", etc. if you didn't already know. After that I would assume he's up to do a Indiana Jones Reboot.

Steven Run was 75-05. Only the last decade he's kinda fell off.

Run as what?

He's a master magician if you get taken in but look at most of his movies with anything but a childlike wonder they don't hold up to critical thinking. I'd love seeing him do something challenging.

Steven's is an Legend and IMO, doesn't have many weaknesses as a filmmaker. But the biggest issue creatively to me is his obsession with the sentimental ending. When he did "Close Encounters" he was taking more risk as the Steven today would of never let Dryfuss character do what he did in the end. He just wouldn't let that son die in "War of the Worlds' even though that was more realistic. But his run is in his versatility. To tackle subjects across several different genres. I mean E.T. to Color Purple to Private Ryan is beyond 360. The dude dropped "Jurassic Park" (The Biggest movie ever at the time) and "Schindler's List" (The Best Oscar Picture) in the same damn year. Also Steven Legacy isn't just in the movies he directed. His production filmography is just as good.

I think Munich shows he can still have that edge when needed. I think those two movies you mentioned, close encounters and war of the worlds, just reflect a guy who was mad at his father in one phase of his life and then became a father in the next phase
