eh...
I love the theatrical experience too, but what Spielberg is doing isn't engaging in conversation to find a way for both the old guard and Netflix to come together. It's indeed just sad yelling at clouds.Ok, so Spielberg's position reeks of "old man yells at cloud"....but he's fighting for the theatrical experience. And for that, I'm totally with him.
Roma met the requirements though.
It was released to theaters before it premiered on Netflix and continued running in theaters after the streaming release date.
He mad streaming is breaking the old Hollywood model. Dont worry you'll be dead by the time the studios ate completely finished Steven
I think it might be too late for studios to pull their content because ppl are getting more comfortable with ditching cable and having services like Netflix and Hulu to get t.v. from one or two points....Now if you got different studios starting up all these different streaming services it starts to go back to the same problem with cable where you paying for a lot of " fat" that you don't even useYup. And I have no problem with that at all. Any movie that Netflix wants to get behind for an Oscar, do that. Problem solved. They will be selective with it.
And streaming is NOT breaking the Hollywood model. Movies in theaters are what they are and home viewing movies are what they are. Nothing has changed with regards to that aspect; because before streaming, it was picking up a low-budget flick from Blockbuster or PPV, or late night cable viewing, or shytty movie Saturday afternoon. The only thing that has changed is the attention Netflix is getting. But HBO was premiering their produced original movies on Saturday nights 8pm...which is their main movie premiere night. Once again, when HBO & Disney pulls their content of of Netflix (inevitable), and their subscriptions dwindle, will anyone care?

Yeah I have seen some of those other streaming services and if u ever wondered what happened to the 99 cent dvds you used to see at Wal-Mart or movies like " The Toxic Avenger" ....they got emthat's already happening, unfortunately
I noticed a lot of there movies are extremely trashSeems fukked up but 98% of what Netflix puts out is trash.
I don't have much sympathy
It’s the same with HollywoodI noticed a lot of there movies are extremely trash
Like there obviously not super low budget but they still have a trash element to them

I think a lot of people are kidding themselves by thinking that Netflix is going to suffer when studios start pulling their stuff.Don't know if you've been paying attention, but people don't go to the theaters like that no more. People are only willing to visit the theaters for event movies nowadays. All those other genre's i.e. Romantic Comedies, Drama, Comedies, Horror etc, that used to do well in theaters... are being dominated by streaming and television platforms. Major stars are taking TV gigs from streaming platforms over studio movies.
Netflix has already started integrating their subscription base to viewing their original programming as their primary calling card. They not about to see a huge drop-off when other studios start pulling their content. It's already been happening. Netflix has become an integral part of peoples lives.
Yeah, the ball is rolling now. I don’t know how much support Spielberg will get. I see his logic but I don’t fancy the academy awards to begin with anyways. Or most awards ceremonies for that matter...It’s all about control nothing more, but it’s too late. Netflix has too much money to be stopped now
