woo Jesus I should've brought a tissue box.

It was beautifully made from beginning to end: from the character development, the riveting storyline, the humor, the comic-book style and different animation styles for each Spidey, voice acting was on point, the themes/motif, the action, the soundtrack/score (Prowler's theme was terrifying and Sunflower is just ), I could go on & on...

To me, it's the best movie of 2018 and definitely the best Spiderman movie. (Homecoming is #2.)
don't debate me :sayitnomo:

Not gonna debate you, just gonna say you are wrong because there's no way Homecoming is better than Spider-Man 2 :pachaha:

:jawalrus: I could make the argument as to why it is.

I do think it's probably better than Black Panther but I can't say it's better than Infinity War, it's up there though. Infinity War is something I thought I'd never see and the Russos pulled it off, it's a miracle they pulled it off. Whedon would have dropped the ball.

Disagree on the point about Whedon but also I’d put BP ahead of infinity war. Infinity war, as dope as it is, is all third act shyt. As a film it only works if you’ve seen every other movie and can’t be seen in a vacuum like Black panther can be. Also black panther having something to say and not fumbling its message puts it over the top for me.

:beli: I even bolded it lol

I could never hate on Raimi's S2, it's an all-around great superhero movie. But I felt Tom Holland's embodiment of a young Peter Parker/Spiderman was borderline perfect, it gives Homecoming a slight edge over.

It all depends on how you personally rank criteria.

Im not even sure why people are comparing these to BP or Avengers. I somewhat get other spidey movies but even then it's still another medium

You could do shyt in animation that will look bad live action. The 3rd act would be a mess live action.

Well that’s the thing tho: do we compare film to film or genre to genre or style to style? If toy story 3 or zootopia or beauty and the beast can be looked at as some of the best films in their perspective years, animated or otherwise, then I feel it’s valid to compare this to a live action comic book movie. Storytelling is storytelling and you use the medium you have to tell that story.

I like Spider-Man 2 far more than Homecoming but it definitely doesn't hold up when you really look at it :russ:

Which is what I was going to tell him. The shyt doesn’t hold up for me. And it starts and ends with the way tobey and Kirsten portray Pete and mj.

There's parts that don't work as well as they once did and even some of the CGI but Homecoming to me I have to deduct major points concerning Stark and the use of Stark in the movie. Tony is doing far too much "telling" and he's inventing shyt that Peter should be doing himself. Peter doesn't need to be told how to be a hero and he doesn't need another brain creating stuff for him when he's just as intelligent.

I would agree with that if there weren't plenty of examples in the comics where young Peter has gone to older heroes or just adults in his life asking for advice. That's nothing new for him. Tony being a hypocrite is also nothing new for him, which is also illustrated in Tony saying Peter made a choice that he wouldn't have in the end. But the movie nails its themes just as well as Spider-Man 2, has just as compelling of a villain, while also not having questionable characterizations of characters and being tonally consistent.

Should we go see Spiderman or Aquaman tomorrow?

I hope if you saw me comment in a business forum that I impressed you as much as I have been while reading your analysis for these films.
