As that’s the problem though. Animation is seen as lesser than other film despite all the work innovations it’s bringing to the medium

I’m not saying it will win but it should be nominated
well they have their own category. there's only been 3 animated films nominated for best pic and it's been 13 years since the last one

I read this in Jeffrey Wrights voice. Also its plausible but unlikely for that BP nom. But still, is there really 10 other movies up for bat this year, cos all I got so far is Past Lives, Dune 2, Oppenheimer and Flowers of the Killer Moon. Maybe Poor Things with Emma Stone. They might be really starved for content and put in Barbie, Air and Asteroid City :pachaha:

Yea i don't know what my top 10 movies are, but i know this is in my top 5 :wow:

7 years ago i thought it'd be T'Challa in this position delivering this level of GOATness.

20 years ago i thought for sure John Stewart would've long been the one, he was further along than BP at the time (JLU)

25 years ago Blade was further along than both of them after the '98 movie + Wesley

But so much disappointment and sabotage or unfortunate derailments for all 3 black heroes.

Hence why part of me was so satisfied but emotionally drained after watching AtSV, bc i couldn't stop thinkin back to my 10-year old self and how he would've loved this movie franchise and everything about Miles... the games, the action figures, the comics, the Halloween costumes, etc.

It's bitter sweet that it took 27 years later and i'm a bit too old to enjoy it the way i would've as an impressionable kid but i'm just happy the movie was made and i could turn back time for those couple hours. I truly love this movie.

I'm glad for the kids growing up in this era. In the early 2000s, we had nothing. Had to watch white boys save the day every time and got told that people wouldn't support a black led movie. Now kids got to see T'Challa and they get to see Miles. Hopefully somebody at DC is watching this unfold and decides to do a Static Shock movie/animated movie.

If we were lucky we'd get the C-list acting of some early 00's rapper as the hip sidekick:mjlol:

Then we evolved into the old wise nygga role. Samuel L, Morgan, and Laurence ate well off that :mjlol:

And yea, Static high key should've been at this level long before Miles. DC dragged their feet. Tho tbf so did Marvel; the BP stuff is well-chronicled and the only reason Miles is what he is now is because Sony has the movie + game rights and didn't give a cotdamn what Disney wanted to do.

Since the Milestone character rights are tied up with McDuffie's wife. I don't think it's that easy for DC to do anything with them. I believe she has to give them permission to do anything. It's the reason it took DC so long to reboot the comics.

You absolutely right. Big impediments from 2015-2020 (lawsuit filed in 2017), but shiiid McDuffie died in 2011 and everything was still kosher up through at least 2013 with Static appearing in Young Justice s2 eps. That’s 12-13 years from the debut of Static’s show for DC to work something out. Yet nothing. I don’t think they were that interested in the IP despite the show’s popularity.

Hell, everything got sorted in 2020 and to their credit a movie with Michael B tied to it was announced… but since then, nothing.

Hopefully with the success of Miles (in addition to BP), it’ll light a fire under DC to do something in this Gunn era and not just future announcements that never materialize like in the old regime.

Lol...

C'mon son
From “What else is even half as good as this releasing this year?” :krs:

to

“they can still get nominated for best picture” :mjcry:

And a nomination would be a huge dub, but ain’t no way it’s taking Best Picture. :skip:

Not entirely true.

John Stewart was holding it down as Green Lantern on Justice League & Justice League Unlimited (2001-2006).

You mentioned him - Static/Virgil Hawkins had his own animated show Static Shock (2000-2004).

You had Cyborg doing his thing on Teen Titans (2003-2006).

^^^^^

He said it better than I could. In the early 2000s, we didn’t have it like it is now.

We were talkin about superhero movies brotha, not television.

@Ozymandeas og post was in response to mine, in which i spoke about john stewart's animated run in the early '00s and how he (and other brehs) been long overdue long before BP and Miles hit the big screen. Static is another example
