Look at the ID4 sequel plot. If had a unifying outside/alien threat to get us on the ball and money/economics wasn’t an issue we would have the shyt solved.

Humans work surprisingly well under pressure. If it came down to it and crunch time is around the corner, I think we'd come up with some incredible solutions.
