Power must be a MF.

These dudes would rather destroy their country and risk jail / death to retain power instead of taking their millions of dollars and living a life of pleasure until they die.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Exactly.

Only 1% of the people who join the military do so because they want combat. Most people in the military do not want to be deployed to combat.

Now think of the average person - most people are too scared to even considering joining the military for non-combat roles because they’re scared of war.

This is who’s going to fight the government?

Most people will set there and try to weather the storm instead of fight.
Will most Americans fight, no...but you have to go back through Revolutionary War and you'll see only 3% of Americans fought England.

I think if Trump accelerates a diminished quality of life, people will fight.

I think we have a couple possible scenarios. The military sides with Trump, the left rises against Trump, the sane folks on the right realize they've been lied to by Trump, or Trump creates his own private brown shirt army.

South Korea have been doing their thing culturally the past decade. They have become very visible and influential but tensions have been building up for a minute.

Totally different culture.
Culture is a veneer. Humans below that are essentially the same and therefore, their systems and governments and the weakness of them are pretty much equal across the board.

I thought after Jan 6th the ideas of American exceptionalism as it relates to the idea their system and government is invincible would die. There is very little difference between our system and the South Korean one and the same vulnerabilities exist. In fact, the supposed plan of Jan 6th was to declare martial law and use the insurrection act to use the military against civilians who inevitably showed up to protest.

"but the military wouldn't have gone along with it" possibly. But at least this time around they plan on purging military leadership not considered loyal to get ahead of that issue in the future.

So, again how is America any different in vulnerabilities than South Korea?

False alarm.....

Um, all this means is lawmakers passed something to overturn it. But the military is currently backing the president. They have guns while lawmakers have paper. This is not an end until the president or military agree to follow the "checks and balances" of parliament.
