Bullpen was bound to have some hiccups but one of the computer nerds in the front office has to tell Boone that Weaver's a 2 inning at max guy at this point of the season. Second time he's been shaky when asked to throw too many pitches.

Where is Mariano when you need him?
Ugly win but those tend to happen against division rivals.

Win the series tomorrow.
If there’s a night for the pen to be bad, it’s this one. What concerns me (as usual), is that Holmes once again didn’t have a clean inning. He’s allowed 7 hits in 5 innings pitched this year.

Hard to disagree, I think Holmes has always been a strikeout an inning pitcher or not much more than that but even with that said he's not missing a lot of bats with his stuff so far. Thankfully he got a strikeout tonight.

Again the teams 7-2 and after today might win there 3rd series in a row so I hate to throw cold water on the early season but I can’t help but see this team has a lot of warts

Holmes worries me, Verdugo, Torres, Wells, & Stanton haven’t been hitting well, & the starters aren’t going deep into games. I’m not worried about Torres or Verdugo, but they need to get some more arms for the pen with how the injuries have hit them. What encourages me is that the starters have been good when they’ve been in and the lineup has done a great job of working pitch counts and stringing together hits. I figure they’ll get going sooner as a whole or later.

of course they have warts, but that's also because we don't expect them to fix them when they've been there for a long time. Power of benefit of the doubt.

Astros are 2-7 and nobody's panicking about them even though they have issues themselves. We just assume they'll be in the ALCS again so none of this matters.
