I see fans who seem to know a lot more than me, and follow the Yankees much closer (I grew up in NY as a Yankees fan but now live down south and started fukking with the Braves as my NL team since I live close to their stadium), but what I've seen suggests that Hal cares more about selling buckets of chicken fingers than actually trying to win a title. He wants to win enough that fans still show up and spend money. Basically, get to the playoffs/wild card and if we get knocked out, that's fine.
If that is true (not saying it is, but just seeing what those who are more tuned in are saying) then I wonder what it'll really take to make those changes. TBH even if Boone gets fired, it won't make a difference if Cashman is still GM imo.
