It's interesting that the movie does show the dark side of capitalistic gain & the greed it perpetuates; but, I don't think the message is "capitalism is evil", though.

Here me out... SPOILERS...

Low key, Steve Lift's whole pitch could also describe the dark side of communism & absolute distributed wealth as well. The WorryFree design pitches the idea of shared wealth, no capitalistic & hierarchical competition but what about those people who are the gatekeepers of the wealth pool? Those people who have the intangible currency of power & influence? Yes, it's tempting to limit one's greed when that greed will hurt others but give you insane profit... But, imagine how tempting it'll be to be one of gatekeepers who have the ability to live lavishly and take advantage of the masses on the hush?

In a way, Steve Lift was offering a perverse ideological system of communism - no chance of upwards mobility and a treadmill life prospect with the trust in the government/society to just stay fair...

Interesting movie.

the closest thing to this in real life that I can think of are worker-owned co-ops.

this breh here goes into detail overall about economic democracy

Overrated film. Not a bad film by any means but not great either. Came off like and 80s film such as Earth Girls are Easy or Repo Man. It was like a B-movie.

It is a B-movie, but so was They Live and Robocop.

Interesting movie.
Interesting take. But I do think that they angle they portrayed with Armie Hammer's Lift with him pitching Worry Free as another product, a life-contract and pitching the Equesapiens as another form of cost-efficient labor speaks more to capitalism. They also showed the impact he outing of the equesapiens had of their bottom line and shares. Except for the PSA's, they barely show Worry Free or their lifestyle. However, they could totally flip this movie and show the communism side by focusing more on Worry Free. But you are right, Lift states his purpose and that does lean toward communism. Instead of Capitalism vs Morality, perhaps it's Capitalism vs Morality vs Communism.

I wanted to like it more but couldn’t.

I understood the message with being a “work horse” and having to hide your blackness to get ahead, the “Left Eyes” representing the Leftist, but it was just meh to me.

Maybe when I get the blu-ray and watch it a couple of times it’ll grow on me.

Brehs explain this movie to me :patrice:
I'm starting to understand it, but still a bit lost
Capitalism. Everyone has a price and how much will you exploit (yourself and others) to make to that highest corporate level. The rules are different there
