Great movie! Here's something that I was wondering...
Was tessa thompson being quirky just a put on to advance her art? She had the accent and everything going at her show and im sure she would have had to spin signs for years to be able to afford to rent out a venue for all of that art.

Great fukking movie.

As others have said, "weird" is an understatement; especially considering this was a black director and all black cast.

In a way, I have the feeling the Riley was subliminally giving a "fukk you" to those who have double standards when it comes to black IPs. When something is deemed "black", many people feel as if it has to follow very cliched templates, essentially "STTS".

He seems like the type of breh who was called weird and all because of his imagination and I am happy that he pushed the envelop with this movie. shyt, even I fell into the ignorant trap of getting through half the movie thinking that if it stopped here, this is one of the best movies I can identify with and when the shyt turned "acid trip" I whispered to my breh, "this is some white shyt".

I'm also having a bit of trouble fully peeling back all the layers, though. I'm considering making a separate "spoiler" thread for this movie.

Now...

One of my favorite scenes:

When Cash and his boy Salvador were clearly upset with each other and was on some low key disrespectful shyt with the, "You have a nice day" "Or word, well nikka, I am, I hope this is going to be an amazing week for you." "nah, nah, this month bout to be a blessing of treasures for you, my nikka!" And they felt some type of way with each ante up. That's some real black shyt. THat was amazing. The non black people in the movie theater were laughing at the absurdity of it but I highly doubt they know how spot on that shyt was! :russ:

Watched it last night. Good movie, funny, weird as hell at times especially during the direction the third act goes...I read up on it after I saw it and noticed a good number of sites spoiling the "twist" or whatever you call it. If you plan on seeing this (as you should), don't read any of that shyt.

Had to keep the Black in Oakland feels going...walked my ass right into Blindspotting after this was over. They even showed a Blackkklansman trailer before that joint.

just got back...I fukk with it

The Worryfree propaganda reminded me of Robocop, and the I got the shyt kicked out of me show reminded me of Idiocracy

but that second half turn :merchant::russ:...seriously didn't expect that...it kinda and kinda doesn't fit into the entire scheme of the flick but it worked

did Tessa have her own white voice when she as performing her art? She sounded british
She had a white voice, too.

This was this year's Get Out.

Awesome movie
:ohlawd:
When they had him rap I felt like he was back in the sunken place... well since he never escaped and once he ‘moved up’ and was told to only speak in his white voice... the workplace was the sunken place

Some things I noticed

how the slaves talked with “ghetto hip hop vernacular”
And how the white manager was basically a former criminal, obviously not more qualified than the rest of the telemarketers...

Cassius’ bandage got dirtier and bloodier as time went on...

Cassius was such a good seller that he sold the public on the hybrid horse idea

Eye patch breh used his black voice one time at the end to lead Cassius to the final picth

I noticed that his bandage looked like the toyko flag... I kept wondering if that had any meaning.
I was also wondering if Chris’ alternate ending in get out with him ending up in prison was the reason we got a non happy/wtf ending here...

Eye patch ain’t shyt, he only used his non white voice when he knew that Cassius was going to the final phase. So basically he is the recruiter, but why isn’t he a work horse
