It's a play on a real Gambino gangster who was living a down life life.Probably my 6th or 7th time rewatching and I'm on season 6. The only part I just can't see why they included was Vito and his gay love afair. I have no problem with the gay aspect, but I just can't see why they included it. Vito and Johny cakes (yuck) didn't have any chemistry, and the whole storyline did nothing to push the plot forward beside giving Phil another reason to despise the NJ crew. Maybe that was the reason to include it, but they could have done something else to show that. It just seemed weird and out of place to me..
