Realistically PS4 outsold PS3 because the PS3 was not the console of choice last gen in the west. Everyone had a 360. Now the table is flipped and everyone has the PS4 and nobody has a X1.

Just got my PS4 today. It's nice but why the fukk can't I find PSN 12 month cards for cheap? I can get live for $40 for a year but PSN isn't cheap anywhere.

That's because the average gamer is broke. The cheapest console (unsurprisingly) always sells the most. It's been that way forever.
$600 PS3 sold far worse than the 360 even though it was a much better system. It wasn't until Sony produced more affordable units which caused numbers to jump.
