The fukk is this? So you want them to take everything that makes MIB MIB, and just change it for no reason?

How about just make an original script with those ideas?

MIB 3 was a good movie
MIB is based off a comic book that actually has the shyt I'm talking about go down in it. @MartyMcFly this is what I was talking about, breh:pachaha:

:snoop: I know breh, I know. But you know studios are afraid of rated r movies now for some reason
I'm not even talking about the R-rated part. You have leeway with a PG-13 tag anyway. Dude went at my neck for suggesting a reboot that would actually be more in line with the source material that Men in Black is based on :dead:

Yeah but how many people in the film room do you think are aware that MIB is based on a comic book? Let's be real about that breh.

I know the internets wasn't as big back in the day, but I remember when the TV show and first movie was coming out that the comic was mentioned and I never even read the shyt. Plus the Men in Black is an urban legend that predates the movies and comic by a large margin. I don't fault anyone for not being aware in the slightest. My point was going back to my initial post about people hating the very idea of reboots.

I understand why dudes hate reboots of old films that there was no need to touch in the first place. Imagine a Godfather reboot. I'd be tight:scust:But when a franchise is getting stale, yet still has tons of potential, a reboot makes a ton of sense. Spiderman and Transformers are good examples of that. I made a post a while ago about rebooting Rush Hour instead of just bringing back Chan and Tucker. Reboots get a bad rap because they're usually half assed money grabs for the most part, but if done with the best interests of the franchise in mind they can be great.

:salute: I'm with you entirely man. Some things still have life in them based on the concept alone so why not keep it going and a lot of times you run things to the point where in order for them to continue, you have to reboot

Because the movies were wildly successful being a Ghostbusters clone. The last thing there needs to be is another "gritty" alien hunter.

But his point is breh, that if you were to reboot it, then you can go to the source material which would make it feel fresh and not a retread which is what people get up in arms about reboots for. That way you "justify" it outside of the obvious business reasons and you get someone to do it in a different way without rehashing the same basic story from the first three

I don't think the premise is good enough for a reboot. Without Will's personality and TLJ's chemistry with him, the movies wouldn't be much too begin with.

Even if you did reboot it, without question they would use the same story from the first, just with less comedy.

They never disclosed the budget for the movie but the rumor is it cost at least 250-300 mill just for production. That's not factoring in marketing costs, distribution costs, and the theaters get their cut too. In one of the earlier Sony emails, someone wrote that they didn't make the money they needed to from MIB so he/she questioned why do they keep putting that much money into the movie to not get a big enough return for their investment

Damn all that. Those execs are skimming the money somehow. Or something else shady is going on. Thats the only way it makes sense to put up that much fukking money for the 3rd Men In Black movie. When they hear that they would need 650 Million to breakeven theres not an exec in the world that sign off on that without smoking crack first...

Besides what @MartyMcFly said, it wouldn't just be about aliens. They'd be regulating the supernatural/paranormal in general. So ghosts, vampires, werewolves, demons, yeti, etc. It gives them a ton of leeway creatively as opposed to just cartoonish talking aliens. And I'm genuinely asking, what are these other gritty alien hunter movies, breh?:patrice:
