The beautiful thing about the Boondocks is that it touched on all aspects of Black culture. What this season focuses on will be a huge determining point on what the people who are now in complete control are about. It's stories have been leaning towards the fukkery, but the dynamic of characters like Huey, Granddad and Tom have been that balance. If they are compromised, then it's over for real.

I hope Black Jesus is good, but AM lost some cache with me on this one. Any "messages" he wants to convey will be undercut, when you sold your vision. I understand the gravy train got too big, but still.

Same shyt I was thinking. I'm definately not happy to hear this news. Although outrageous, the show was authentic. Hopefully they don't cheese this shyt out. Gonna watch anyways.

Really? I'd heard some people saying that he didn't really enjoy doing the show that much anymore. So he really isn't involved?
I don't know about him enjoying it and everything but I know he rarely writes or directs episodes. It's basically his in name only these days. He's got a lot of other projects going on right now, I think.

A lot of hyperbole in here.

But I'll admit, season 3 was really forgettable, and MacGruder wrote every episode in that season. And I also remember when I was watching it that it wasn't really all that funny or poignant tbph. Only thing I remember from season 3 is when Riley is selling chocolate or something.

So it wouldn't be the worst thing to have new writers and ideas for the show. :manny:

Yes, it could tho. Writers are tasked with writing coherent and funny stories. The vision and impact of the show doesn't come from that. It's on the man who oversees it. A writer can write anything, but the direction comes from the creator. He's gone now, and it will be interesting to see what direction the show goes.

You have a point. But I'm not convinced that it couldn't work. The writers can still write or at the very least replicate the satire that McGruder brought to the show (and like I said season 3 I don't even really remember any biting satire that was memorable).

But then again I can't think of too many shows that were still successful after the main person split. I can think of Seinfeld when Larry David left after season 7 but season 8 went on to be one of the best seasons (imo) and 9 is massively underrated (again imo). And after David left the show did change but it was still pretty, pretty good comedy. But that's all I can think of off the top of my head :yeshrug:

I feel you. I guess I'm just looking at it from the viewpoint of its social commentary, but it is in essence a comedy cartoon lol. I just worry about the former being downplayed in favor of the latter.

And that's partly why I remember it. I had to read the rest of the descriptions of the episodes on wikipedia to remember them
