Microsoft ain't going to do much if they don't adapt. Right now they have Phil and Greenberg relying on word of mouth marketing rather than putting actual funds into it. Aaron Greenberg is classic case of failing his way to the top. I have no clue why they don't have youtube, TV, and twitter ads for their big games and gamepass. I guarantee you if you ask somebody who isn't in the know what gamepass is and they would shrug and say they don't know. I think Microsoft's poor marketing doesn't help when you're trying to capture new consumers. I think if they don't get their act together this year then this will be another 2.:1 split.

Anyways, I feel the damage is done and most are going to migrate to whichever console their friends are on. Microsoft's only hope right now is if they can attract people with their 23+ studios and create COD incentives for xbox gamers to attract that crowd. Lastly, I think they chose the worst gen to screw up because most people are going to want to build on their existing digital library and most people had a PS4.

This is pretty much the nail on the head right here, people already chose last gen where to build their digital libraries. You’re gonna have a hard time getting 117 million people to leave their playstations and start over on xbox, especially when they havent created any real buzz outside of these small gaming hubs since this generation began.

Their biggest most notable game has been a butt of jokes on the internet for the past year. This was the generation Microsoft needed to be explosive out the gate and they completely flubbed their launch and their second year was a dud. Probably the most important time for customer acquisition

Also playstations marketing is just A1, always has been but now especially….

I think only thing that can happen is if they create enough exclusives to make playstation gamers to make xbox (gamepass) their second console. There's nothing wrong about being the secondary console in the household. The key for Microsoft is to deliver AAA bangers because games like hifi rush and Pentiment are niche and won't sell consoles. They need Starfield, Redfall, Hellblade, Perfect Dark, Fable, Avowed and non Gears and Forza games to deliver. I think many want to see what they can do outside of the holy trinity before they invest in it as a second console

Meh. The US market has been pretty even for the last few generations.

As long as MS remains competitive in the largedt economy in the world they'll be fine.

Sony stans wild just last gen yall was all about physical games and slowly moved on over to digital, xbox players have been saying for a LONG time how nice it is to have a whole digital library in one spot.

The best part is yall in here verifying and co signing what me and a few others have been saying.

Playstation has a monopoly. :manny:

Yall had all kinda excuses as to why they don't, now the nail in the coffin was decided last gen

A monopoly is when one company and its product dominate an entire industry whereby there is little to no competition and consumers must purchase that specific good or service from the one company.

The funny thing is even if Xbox and PS swap spots, MS would be further from monopolistic behavior than PS. Because ALL of xbox 1st party games would be available on PC and other devices as well as other platforms.

Yeah, and not only do they need to get a proper release cadence to those games they actually have to be good games, like better than average GOTY worthy titles that get people to pay attention.

Because while those games might resonate with some older gamers (35+) how many young people know what Perfect Dark, and Fable is? All those games might as well be new IP

And then they still have to compete against stuff like God of War, Spider-Man, Wolverine, LOU, FF…etc

Yes, all Microsofts games would be on Microsoft Windows or running on Xcloud, microsofts cloud servers lol, def not a monopoly

And theres a difference between running a successful business and a monopoly. If the former counts than Microsoft has a ton of monopolies already
