Sony is currently the worst studio around, every movie gets a green light. I can't believe that fukking emoji movie they got coming out :mjlol:

:wtf:

Yeah a lot of the mystique of those old Norma Lear shows had to do with catching lightning in a bottle when it came to casting the leads of those shows.

Carrol O'Connor & Jean Stapleton as Archie and Edith
Sherman Hemsley & Isabel Sanford as George and Weezie
John Amos & Esther Rolle as James and Florida

That will not be an easy job to recast those roles.

The first 1 and half to 2 seasons of Good Times were not as full blown minstrely as the show became afterwards. Initially it was a show about black folks run by a black creative team.
Backstage upheavel pushed the black presence out and then JJ became a bigger presence and the show just started becoming super-c00nish. That is why John Amos left and eventually Esther Rolle skipped out too.

It was? I thought guys like Leno and Letterman were writing for the show early on?

They had white writers but the show was created by two black dudes: Eric Monte (who would go on to create what's Happening) and Mike Evans (who the youngest son on the show was named after and who also was the original Lionel on All in the Family & The Jeffersons)...the original goal was to show a realistic black family struggling in the projects but that missions statement got tossed in the bushes when JJ's antics became popular and the network basically pushed Monte and Evans vision aside and wanted the show to be more JJ's style of network approved blackness.

I had no idea Esther Rolle left. I thought the final ep was Keith's knee being good and him going to the league and they all left the projects. My memory is shyt tho

When Esther Rolle left, they used Florida's honeymoon with Carl as the way to write her off of the show.

JJ would be considered a c00n in 2016,matter of fact he was pushing the line for his time, aint that why John Amos left:pachaha:

Only thing nikkas will be watching closely is the casting of Thelma:whoo:

Qhy not have a Sanford and Son reboot with no Fred sanford.

A Martin reboot without Martin Lawrence.

Stop downplaying the talent of the people who played these characters like we could ever forget the original....and you can just plug new nikkas in for the same effect.

We aint forget that Rush Hour show:pachaha:?not because ir was good, but because i wanted to be able to bring it up whenever somebody wants to reboot a classic:pachaha:

The show has been casted.....looks horrible
