not really in fact it was a dumb idea to buy a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player because the price on them fell pretty quick and if that's all you wanted it for just being patient would have got you better.
The prices on Blu-ray players did NOT fall pretty quick

It was like 2yrs later. Companies was ready to, but SONY wouldn't allow other companies to sell them for cheaper than PS3 because sony had to basically FORCE people to buy PS3 by doing that.
PS3 was cheaper, and it doubled as a gaming machine so why not buy that. This console war is not even close for real

But now I'm going off topic...
update it then you lazy ass nikka
Unless its Forza 5, then updating via a gaming console is bad all of a sudden :stopitislime:
It is bad if you have to update your non videogame features to work. I don't need to update an xbox to play a DVD
What about the people who don't have internet like that, you know, the people who would be left out if the XB1 had online check-ins? How are those people gonna use there Blu-ray movies?
Please don't ignore this, I am one of those people so this is life or death for me
b-b-but what about people in submarines
xbots should stick with dvd, they swore up and down blu-ray was a fad and would die out
DVD is still the more popular medium which means this is the first time the upgrade has failed to beat out the previous medium. And with Digital Downloads, blu-rays will be extinct before this gaming gen is done.
Are you stupid or dumb? How I know? 4K movies will be out NEXT YEAR. Streaming ONLY
They say its not even a feasible option for Blu-rays. But I'll let you act like you know anything...
revisionist history? you telling me hd-dvd
should have won is revisionist history.
tell me in what area, hd-dvd was really winning
![heh :heh: :heh:](https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/heh.png)
b-but transformers
![dead :dead: :dead:](https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/dead.png)
fukk outta here, y'all say the same shyt about halo and gears of war
nikka, why you posting up dumbass charts n shyt. Obviously you have no idea what happened.
If you did, you woudn't need a chart. You could just tell me. I'll tell you. HD-DVD was the more advanced medium because it had certain codecs blu-rays didn't have and couldn't use until HD-DVD gave up.
They also didn't come with internet capabilities, so the original blu-rays are not even compatible with later versions
![wow :wow: :wow:](https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/wow.png)
HD-DVD's always had internet for updating. There was a few other things as well, instead of looking for bullshyt charts you should of google the actual question. Its not hard to find bruh. You just didn't look
Assuming im a stan... Hd dvd was never in play for gaming, it was for video and was neck and neck with blu ray. sony had marketshare due to being included with ps3 but stand alone hd dvd players were way cheaper. the reason they lost in the end is because toshiba expected microsoft to include hd-dvd in the new xbox and they didnt to keep cost down.
That isn't the reason they lost in the end. Has nothing to do with it, and Toshiba never thought Microsoft was gonna include HD-DVD in Xbox 360. HD-DVD was winning the head to head battle, then sony paid off 2 movie companies and thats how it ended. I can even tell you what they did.
They got on a plane some execs for some company I can't recall right now. They told HD-DVD or whatever they would sign with HD-DVD. On that flight, sony made a deal with Warner Bros and paid them like 400,000 or more if they went to Blu-ray. Same with a 2nd company. Once that plane landed, a news conference was set up to reveal the HD-DVD deal but that conference was cancelled. The rest is history. I'll look it up right quick...
Blu-ray Wiki said:
The fatal blow came on January 4, 2008 when
Warner Bros., which has the largest market share of DVDs, announced plans to drop HD DVD support completely as of the beginning of June 2008. At the
Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, some HD DVD-related events and private meetings with analysts and retailers were canceled, including an event scheduled for the eve of the show sponsored by the North American HD DVD Promotional Group.
That event that was cancelled was supposed to be them announcing a new deal with HD-DVD but sony paid them off at the last minute.
