Lo innovated so much:

  • Back and forth flow
  • Soul focus samples
  • Hard to decipher lingo
  • The heist theme
Only to get treated like a baby's teething ring and get thrown at a local Goodwill:francis:

Uptown Saturday Night>>>>>>>>>Reasonable Doubt

Don't @ me either:camby:
Lol I was with you until the album > but it's cool they are both awesome in their own right

The problem with this, is dudes have a lot of revisionist history going on with these stories.

Hov was on WNYU freestyling and flowing the way he did on "Feelin' It" and on "Best of Me", way before Camp Lo even dropped their "Coolie High" single on wax. Two years before. Ski spoke on this mad times. He gave the "Feeling' It" beat to both of them, and other artists and would coach them on how to flow on the beat. But Jay had the record deal and was ready to drop sooner, so he got the beat. When Camp Lo dropped Uptown Saturday Night, they spoke on it and said that Jay's track was better, so they thought he was the one that should have the beat. Ski has always said the same. Jay was rolling with Ski as early as '92 before he even oversaw Camp Lo's music, when Clark and Dame were helping to shop them as rappers. So he always had first pick of Ski's beats, something else Ski has said many times.

Uptown Saturday Night was dope, probably a classic too. Super underrated. I always fukked with their music, I'm a fan of their shyt, but they gotta stop lying, lol. Both dudes in the Lo used to shower Jay with mad praise early on in their careers, and then after he took off, and their careers stalled, that's when they started doing the interviews saying he was biting them and all that. When "Luchini" was popping and they looked like they would sell and Jay was still working his way up, every time they spoke on him, they loved the guy. Then after they fell off, all of a sudden, they started up with throwing little shots. You see that way too much in Hip Hop.

True, they've been speaking on it ever since Roc declined on signing them in 2001. They lost their deal with Arista, and ended up going with an indie label called 81 Records instead. Right after that, they started going to the magazines and talking about Jay stealing flows and songs from them.

No coincidence there.

About Jay taking some beats they had first. Not only Feelin It.

Oh, I don't know what's been said on here. I just know the actual history. If anyone would know, it's Ski. And he's always said mad times that he started working on those songs with Jay for RD way before Camp Lo was even a group, back when he was living Uptown and hanging with Dame all the time. Jay already had those beats, along with other joints that Ski did for RD. When Jay decided to keep it and use it for the album, they all decided it was the best move. This was before Camp Lo was even a thing. He was demoing the song for himself and let one of the dudes from Camp Lo jump on it too. This is back when Ski was still rapping. He just wanted vocals on it and he played it for Jay. Jay asked for it, and he told Jay how to flow on it and gave him the hook. Ski literally said he asked for the beat and he gave it to him, "it's not like he jacked it". This pre-dates Camp Lo as a group. It was Ski's song for his album, not Camp Lo's demo, lol.

Well they must see shyt differently than Ski. I remember them def saying that Jay had other beats. Same way Sonny Cheeba said the nikka Jay would imitate him. Pretty sure Ski would disagree with that too. Who knows. Like I said my first post in here before even watching the video I said damn near exactly what Sonny Cheeba said in the video without even watching it yet.

I just go straight to the source. That track wasn't even a Camp Lo joint. The other dude wasn't even around for the group yet. LOL!! The two people rhyming on the song are Ski and only one of the dudes from the group. It was a track that Ski was demoing for himself, for his own album when he was rapping. He would always play these for Jay. So if Jay heard something he liked, he would give it to Jay because they were working on RD. He's a producer, he literally said he gave him the beat, the hook and the flow too.

So I don't know how that turned into Jay jacking beats from Camp Lo. These aren't even their beats. Camp Lo didn't even exist yet, lol.

Son Sonny Cheeba is clearly on the song and Jay took the flow from HIM. Not Ski. On top of that. He clearly said he had Luchini and Jay wanted it. And tried to buy the song from them for 7k. They didn’t wanna sell it to him. How is that possible if they wasn’t a group yet? How is both Geechi and Sonny on the Feelin It track yet they not Camp Lo? I seen like 3 different stories from Ski. Camp Lo’s shyt mostly stayed from what I remembered from years ago. shyt I wasn’t there so it’s whatever to me. I been knew about Feelin It and all this shyt and it never changed how I looked at Jay anyway.

Ski recorded the OG song with just him and Geechi Suede, for his own album. THAT is the version that he played for Jay. Not anything that had Sonny Cheeba on it. Because there was no Camp Lo yet. Ski says verbatim, that he gave Jay the flows for the songs they did on RD. That's what a producer does, it's his job. Same way, you see Rick Rubin telling Jay how to flow on the "99 Problems" beat. Or how The Bomb Squad coached Cube for AMW. That's what production is, it's not just giving someone a beat.

Biggie asked for Luchini too, according to Ski. Ski played that beat for mad people, from '95 on, he said. He had that shyt way back when he was still in Original Flavor. He said Camp Lo wanted the beat for "Who You Wit", that Jay used. Does that mean they were trying to jack the beat from Jay? Nah, it's Hip Hop. If a producer plays a beat for mad different people, and it's dope, people are going to ask for it. That's not some violation. So this thing where dude is acting like he's some victim because Jay asked for a beat, it's ridiculous. Everyone asks producers for beats. And if someone else has it, you move on.

Bro. U do realize that is a CONFLICTING story from what Sonny Cheeba is saying right? That’s Sonny Cheeba’s flow on a lot of shyt he does. So are u saying Ski gave Sonny his flow? All I’m saying to u is. Even from the video in the OP. Sonny is telling it completely different. So is Sonny lying? Even reading the article boy posted. Ski said Jay took the whole flow and hook and he didn’t know he was gonna do it but he didn’t care because he did say Jay could have the track. He didn’t say he “coached” Jay into anything. He basically said Jay decided on his own to take the flow.
