I walked out of the theater grinning like a damn fool. Big shoutout to @acri1 for nailing it—it's wild how far the Sonic movies have come since that first cringe-worthy trailer dropped in 2019. Now it's going toe-to-toe with Disney's The Lion King franchise! Can we talk about Knuckles for a sec? They've really done him justice. He's more than just muscles; he's got depth, charm, and a sense of humor with Edris's delivery that had me cracking up. Knuckles has always been my favorite, and this movie just cemented that. And Jim Carrey? The man is a LEGEND. He absolutely steals every scene he's in, as usual. I laugh at how people took him seriously when he said he was retiring in 2022, when that was an obvious negotiation tactic for a bigger payday which I hope he got. They even managed to balance Shadow's dark backstory with the overall tone of the movie quite well. Keanu's got another one. 
If you couldn't tell, I really liked this movie. Looking forward to the next one.

It's crazy Jim Carrey was on the verge of permanently retiring from acting but them checks keep clearing.
I'm honestly on the fence about whether Jim Carrey should come back.
On one hand, he killed it in this movie and it's hard to see how he could top his performance here, especially if he comes back and just does another typical "try to take over the world" plot. The way Sonic 3 ended was a good conclusion to Robotnik's character arc, and it might be better to go out on top. Plus bringing him back immediately would sort of cheapen the end of this movie.
One the other hand, it's hard to see someone like Metal Sonic carrying a movie. And it's hard to justify Metal Sonic being around without Robotnik, since Robotnik created him. I guess they could say Robotnik created Metal before he died but that would be a little hard to buy.
Guess it comes down to whether the writers have something more interesting for him to do than just send Metal Sonics at the heroes.

I hadn't seen the previous ones before this one and enjoyed it. Was odd to see the Shemar Moore cameo but I assume his showed up in the previous movies. One question though. What the hell are the hedgehogs made off? Just sitting on the surface of the moon talking with no issues?
With the way it ended i don't see how they don't try to adapt cd. And since they've been been using that second splash of the beginning of believe in yourself for Sega promo they might as wellif sonic 4 uses elements from sonic cd's story

Yes, Shemar Moore was in the first 2 Sonic movies. Why didn't you watch the previous 2 movies, though? (just asking)
Anyway, as for them being on the Moon with no issues, that's the logic of the Sonic universe—just don't think about it. They're fictional anthropomorphic animals with superpowers. Shadow & Sonic chillin' on the Moon is light work lol.
My nephew really wanted me to see it with him and his dad. I told him I hadn't seen the others and he wouldn't take no for an answer
