It's crazy to think of where the Sonic franchise is now compared to like six years ago

Most Sonic games in the 2010s were mid (or terrible) and when that original ugly Sonic design came out people thought the movie would be a joke



Fast forward and now there have been several critically acclaimed Sonic games and people getting hyped for the 3rd movie (which I'm sure will do great), it's the biggest comeback for a franchise I've seen in a minute if ever.

Yeah, Sonic's Rogues Gallery really isn't that deep and it's hard to see Metal Sonic carrying a movie after we've already seen Shadow

If it's not Chaos they might have to come up with a new villain. Maybe Mephiles/Solaris from Sonic 06 could work. Terrible game, but pretty good villains.

Just rewatched the first two since I was feeling rewatching them.

Sonic 1 as time moves on has the vibe I feel will be better thought of as a family movie. Honestly, I am not too caught up with animated films like that, but I feel like Sonic 1 has a film we can come back to again and again. Pacing feeling right. Sonic can be a hero that kids can relate to and want to be as he finally finds a home and family. While Tom is a character, adults recognize wanting to live life with a purpose, but being unaware where you are is where you are meant to be.

Sonic 2 definitely appeals more to the video game fans here. Which is good because the first movie felt like a movie with Sonic and the 2nd movie feels like a Sonic movie. Still a good film as Sonic helps Knuckles since he knows how it is to be alone. Though, the pacing and most importantly, the wedding stuff drags the film.

Basically, Sonic 1 was a better film, but Sonic 2 was the better Sonic movie, if that makes sense.

Excited for Sonic 3 next weekend
