They would get a cut of the master recording, not the publishing.
Learn about the fukking business and your questions are answered.
Owning the masters is owning the performance
Owning the publishing is owning the writing.

Beyonce would rightly own the masters or her label, but she has no reason to be asking for publishing she did not write it

Music publishing is the business of promotion and monetization of musical compositions: music publishers ensure that songwriters receive royalties for their compositions, and also work to generate opportunities for those compositions to be performed and reproduced

A master recording is an original song or sound used for reproduction and distribution. Master rights typically belong to either the artist(s), record label, recording studio, or any other party who financed the recording. Publishing rights belong to the owner of the actual music composition. Music composition includes more than just lyrics

The owner(s) of the composition can sell part of the publishing to whoever

With master rights you get control over when a song is sampled, money when it's sold, etc

With publishing you get a say when a song is used for a commercial, movie, who can cover the song, etc And receive payment...why wouldn't the person who sings the song want some publishing if that is the case

I understand her being frustrated like every person that has had to deal with this issue. But going forward like this is not a good look. :francis: If you don't know that this entertainment business is a cesspool in 2024, then I don't know what to tell you.

I hope that this brehette won't have people refusing to work with her in the future.

I get it. But that statement can go both ways.

You can write a beautiful sing but if you can't find a performer to express it properly, you still don't make money.
Does this mean you should be fine with getting robbed because the performers profile?

I don’t think that means you don’t deserve to own what you wrote.

No. I'm saying that singers and songwriters need each other (usually).

However, the singer has the advantage.

Like Konye stated, "there's a ton of you (writers), but only one of me (beyonces, taylors, mariahs, whitneys)"

Writers should definitely get paid better, but i don't see how fighting publicly with the biggest artists is too their advantage.

Nicca, Taylor swift don't write her own shiet and if you believe she do, you're on crack
Look at her album/song credits and then look at Beyoncé’s. Even when you take out the samples, the amount of listed songwriters for Beyoncé is ridiculous. Same with Rihanna.

Also look at SZA’s. You’ll see some writers but for the most part she writes her own songs, melodies, hooks etc.

Beyonce isnt a traditional songwriter

But this narrative it takes an army to write her a hit is way over blown

And which is it, thought she was stealing credits

Some of her biggest hits
