Big Punisher & Fat Joe - Twinz compilation via leaked.cx
bLeleEW.png

New York rap legends Fat Joe and Big Pun first met in mid-1995 during the recording of Fat Joe's sophomore album Jealous Ones Envy. Fat Joe, immediately impressed by Pun's skills, decided to feature him on the album and formed the posse group Terror Squad with fellow rappers Cuban Link, Armageddon, Prospect & Triple Seis. Since '95, Joe and Pun recorded plenty of tracks up until Pun's untimely demise in February 2000 (dude was 700lbs). I was recently reading a Complex article where Fat Joe breaks down his favourite songs he's recorded and I came across the following quote
Me and Pun never talked about doing a whole album together. We just weren’t smart enough at the time. But yeah, it should’ve been done. Like right now, Lil’ Wayne and Drake should do one. Jay-Z and Kanye West did it.
Given the amount of material the two recorded over the span of a few years, a collab album would make perfect sense. However, the bulk of the duo's discography is scattered across multiple releases; Fat Joe's solo albums, Pun's debut, Terror Squad's group album, among other singles, b-sides, and features. I've decided to collect everything and imagine what a Big Pun & Fat Joe collab album might look like circa 1998. Enjoy!

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother

MASTER LINK:

Good Ass Job (2008) [Pre-VMA's Era]

Based on the "leaked" tracklist (turned out to be fake/just a session folder from 2009), the goal for this comp is to feel like a natural evolution between Graduation and 808s. Evidently an unfinished comp as all of the tracks haven't leaked yet, so I'll be updating this as more becomes available. (anything blank is unleaked tracks)

Winter Spring Summer Fall (2009-2010) [Good Ass Job/My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Era]

Not based on any particular tracklist but rather just a compilation of the leftovers from MBDTF and some GAJ09 leaks (not including the GOOD Fridays tracks as those will come later) to form some sort of cohesive project with an intro and outro.

Cruel Autumn (2011-2013) [Watch The Throne/Cruel Summer/Cruel Winter (2013) Era]

There weren't enough songs from any of these individual eras to make a comp out of, and there's enough overlap in the style of the songs to just smack them all together so here it is, Cruel Autumn. Didn't opt to use the Cruel Winter name (despite the title track) as I think it's much more fitting for the 2016 comp, which will be posted soon (hopefully)

Thank God For Drugs (2013) [TGFD/Yeezus Era]

Not following any specific tracklist for this one since all of the known ones we have are just bloated Yeezus, and my goal here was to have as little overlap as possible between the two projects (might end up cutting On Site since it doesn't add too much here) while still keeping a similar sound. Tried to split the more aggressive tracks from the calmer ones at the end, which creates a pretty good divide i think. Hope some more cool stuff leaks from this era as there seems to be quite a bit more we've never heard.

Yeezus 2 (2013-2014) [Post-Yeezus/Pre-Paul McCartney Sessions era]

Largely based on the 11/11/2013 tracklist, this is meant to compile the best tracks we have from BEFORE the Paul McCartney sessions, as those are very different in feeling and I want to save that for the next comp. Though most of the 11/11/2013 tracks are complete dogshyt people have made some pretty great edits of a few of them, and the unsavable ones have been replaced with other great leaks from the era making it all worthwhile.

Your Prayers Mattered (2014) [Paul McCartney Sessions/Mexico Sessions era] 83.8 MB folder on MEGA
My compilation of the songs from the Paul McCartney sessions/remainder of Yeezus 2 era after that, I feel these songs have enough of a different vibe from the previous comp to warrant being separated, and helps it flow much nicer.

So Help Me God (2015)

After truly separating SHMG from Yeezus 2 and SWISH, it's really not some elusive grail album like everyone makes it out to be, but maybe that's just me since i've been listening to at least some version of all of these tracks for years now. definitely has some of my all time favourites here, and yes, our 2nd (of more to come) version of I Feel Like That

SWISH (2016) [SWISH/Waves/The Life Of Pablo Era]

When making this I really wanted it to be more than a glorified TLOP alternate versions comp, so i tried to stay away from alt versions of released tracks unless i felt they really gained something from their alt versions. the longest comp so far, this is meant to take the best of the pre-Life Of Pablo release (with a small couple being saved for Cruel Winter/Turbo) and sum that up nicely. Tried to loosely follow the 1/24/2016 tracklist as inspiration, and then made it my own from that point.

Cruel Winter (2017) [2015-2017 Era]

A collection of released and leaked songs from around the time the project was worked on, focused around G.O.O.D. Music affiliated artists. This is largely a comp I downloaded years ago with a few minor tweaks to make it fit with my other comps, so I won't be going into detail on all of the changes made here (if any) as I honestly wouldn't know

TurboGrafx16 (2016) [Pre-UCLA Era]

After learning this album was exclusively worked on in 2016 there was a lot less that could really be added to it, but I think for such a short era a 10-song project is perfect, aiming for the video-game inspired sound the album undoubtedly intended to have. The basis for this comp is largely based on the popular "Indigo Sound" compilation, while I tried to cut out the filler and era-innacurate tracks as well as rename the fan-named songs to their actual titles to make a more concise project. For those who don't know Indigo Sound, it was a fan compilation with edited versions of Turbo tracks to include video game samples and additional production for a more cohesive sound across the project.

LOVE EVERYONE (2018) [Love Everyone/ye/KIDS SEE GHOSTS Era]

With so much debate as to what the sound of LE was supposed to be (if there even was a cohesive sound at all), I tried to just compile the best of the leaks and singles to make a mostly flowing album keeping a melancholic sound, while not straying away from the more political songs Kanye was trying to get at at the time. Also tried not to have too many ye/KSG alt versions, which is why there's no Yikes w/ Drake AI or Pooty Tang in here either

Good Ass Job (2018) [Collaboration with Chance the Rapper]

While we really have no tracklist or any actual good leaks from this era specifically (aside from Clouted Up), i did my best to compile Kanye + Chance content from 2017-2018 to fit the era as best I could while making something mostly cohesive for the project. Chance said at one point the album would be 7 tracks, just like everything else from the Summer 2018 run, which makes this short and sweet just like the rest. Tried not to have much overlap with released songs, so I think this works out well.

On My Way Home (September 2018) [Yandhi Era]

Tried my best to compile the best leaks of the Pre-SNL/SNL era with as little overlap as possible with the actual Yandhi tracklist, while still having a cohesive sound from beginning to end. From this point forward there are like 100 mumble demos per era that I probably won't be including because they're just not salvageable in the slightest, so gonna try and keep things not too long. Coming back to Chicago was big for Kanye in 2018, so tried to keep that theme present in the comp title and cover art of his home.

Yandhi (September - December 2018) [Yandhi Era]

Easily the most edited and compiled unreleased album I've ever seen, I really wanted to make the ultimate, "release-ready" version of the album that's both (mostly) realistic and also as listenable as possible. Minimized mumble, and included whatever features/refs I thought fit the album best.

Black Friday (October 2018) [Yandhi Era]

Most of the stuff worked on in the Uganda/Black Friday sub-era was just more versions of the SNL tracklist, so there honestly wasn't a lot to keep on this one that would differentiate it from other comps. Settled for a nice quick 7-track comp that lines up nicely with the rest of Kanye's 2018 drops.

How is this different from the release version?
Added: The Sun, The Forest (OG), Flowers (OG), The Watch, Good Times
Removed: Theodore, Ghost Showers, Love Session, Street Chemistry, Teddy (Skit), Jealousy (Skit)
Why?
Bulletproof Wallets, Ghostface Killah's followup to Supreme Clientele had a really shytty history. Ghost has talked before about his annoyance at RZA for not being able to clear samples for key album tracks such as The Sun, The Watch, Good Times, and Flowers. RZA reworked Flowers' beat before the album's release, but the other tracks were left off. In addition, Ghostface was also upset at the label for improperly sequencing the album. However, through multiple promo cassettes, CDs, vinyls, and a wide variety of early tracklist sequences, we can get a pretty good idea of Ghostface Killah's original intent for the album. Bulletproof Wallets was promoted as an album "by Ghostface Killah featuring Raekwon" similarly to the marketing for their previous collaborations together Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... and Ironman. I chose to roughly base this comp off of a 10-track vinyl promo for Bulletproof Wallets as Raekwon features on a large chunk of the tracklisting. By using this as a framework, I wanted to reconstruct Bulletproof Wallets with the focus being on the collaborative efforts of Ghostface and Raekwon. In addition to the 10-tracks, I also added the additional Raekwon collaboration The Watch and reincorporated the two interludes found on the release version. Never Be the Same Again, Stairway to Heaven, Maxine, Walking Through the Darkness, Ice, The Juks, The Hilton, and Strawberry are all taken from the release version of the album. The Sun and The Watch are both taken from the Hidden Darts compilation. Flowers and Good Times were both taken from rips of promo singles since the release version of Flowers doesn’t have the original beat and the Hidden Darts version of Good Times had some extremely bad distortion. The Forest is an extended version of the release track with an extra hook. Removed both the skits as they suck ass. Removed four of the weaker songs from the release version: Street Chemistry (which wasn't on any of the pre-release tracklists), Love Session (which ended up replacing Good Times on release), Ghost Showers, and Theodore. I think that if Bulletproof Wallets hadn't had such a trouble release, the album would be regarded as a classic up there with Ironman and Supreme Clientele. I hope you enjoy my spin on it.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt II, the sequel to Raekwon’s 1995 mafioso rap masterpiece, had a long and difficult production process, suffering from years-long delays before its eventual release. In short, Raekwon and RZA conceptualized the sequel in 2004, shortly after the release of Rae’s previous solo effort The Lex Diamond Story which, much to the disappointment of Wu fanatics, lacked any input from the Clan’s mastermind RZA. Throughout 2005, Rae and RZA worked closely together, recruiting Busta Rhymes as an executive producer, and fellow Clan members Inspectah Deck and GZA to feature heavily, filling the role Ghostface Killah provided on the first LP. Unfortunately, Ghost was absent during the recording sessions, but in early 2006 he claimed to have sent Rae three verses over the internet to be included on the album. In interviews from late 2005, Rae assured that the album was basically finished and nearly in the mixing stages. It was to be produced entirely by RZA, barring two contributions from Dr. Dre and a few from J Dilla as well. Scram Jones and Alchemist were also known to be shopping beats for the album around this time, but it’s unknown if Rae had recorded on those yet.

With the album being virtually completed at this time, Raekwon gave multiple release dates: Winter 2005 (to coincide with the tenth year anniversary of Cuban Linx 1), January 2006, and April 2006. The only issue was that Raekwon was having difficulty finding a label to distribute the album. In mid-2006, RZA struck a deal with Dr. Dre, and the album was finally set to release on Aftermath. Raekwon quickly turned sour on the deal as he noticed that Dr. Dre had his focus set entirely on Detox and had no actual plans to release OB4CL2 any time soon. According to an anonymous Aftermeth rep at the time, Dre returned from his Christmas vacation and was asked about the album, simply stating, “Nah, I ain’t fukkin’ with that no more.”

Over the next two years, Rae spoke frequently about the “label bullshyt” he was facing, but must have held on to some glimmer of hope as he didn’t officially leave Aftermath until 2008. Rae had ditched RZA at this point in the production due to a falling out as RZA had taken many of the tracks intended for the album and repurposed them for other projects. To fill these holes, Rae recorded a bunch of new material for the album with producers BT, Necro, MoSS, True Master and Icewater Productions. Ghostface came in clutch and recorded a bunch of verses, and even some other Wu affiliates like Blue Raspberry put in some last minute contributions. Raekwon ultimately decided to release the album independently on his own Ice H20 label.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 was praised by critics and fans who felt that it recaptured the same essence of the original. However, the album we got in 2009 was quite drastically different from the album promised in 2006. Sure, the Dre songs both made it on there as well as the Dilla-produced House of Flying Dragons, but only two RZA cuts made it onto the final product, GZA’s “co-starring” role was reduced to a single appearance, there were far more non-Wu guests than promised, and U-God was completely absent. This compilation attempts to reconstruct to the best of my ability what Cuban Linx II would have sounded like in early 2006. I kept it to 16 tracks (same as Cuban Linx 1 minus the skits) to avoid the bloat that the final release suffered from. Two of the songs on here are my own edits: State of Grace with Busta's verse and Thug World with Rae & U-God's verses (later released on Execution in Autumn). Enjoy!

Sidenote: If any of ya'll bothered to read all that and are interested, let me know because I may expand on the history behind this album for a blog post (similar to my last one on Ghost and DOOM's unreleased project)

What's up bro, you seem to have a lot - do you happen to have the DMX collection that Howard put up some time ago? Thanks a lot in advance!
it's in my files somewhere, i have to refind everything but things are everywhere because itunes sorted everything by artist x feature into their separate folders. you can probably still ask howard for a reup, he's still around
