Mr. Box Office has such a talented cast, but the writing on it is :scusthov:

That Rickey Smiley show is a little dry outside of him dressing up as all those characters. The drag tho. :snoop:

I haven't seen Love Thy Neighbor, but the promos for it were cringeworthy.
I dig that Rickey Smiley show. Not a great sitcom but I can watch it for 30 minutes and be somewhat entertained. Lil JJ and Ray J are good on there.

If some of the shows ya'll loved in the 90's came on today, nikkas on here would shyt on them too. Especially living single, no way a show with all those black women dealing with relationship issues would get love on here in 2013.

I gotta agree with this...but, I think this is kinda the reason, too.

Now imma say this, and I wanna make sure i'm not misunderstood...if Martin and Wayans Bros. was on TV today, do y'all think they would've went as long as they did? I know some uptight folks who have said those shows were just buffoonery. I thought it was just naturally funny, but it seems like people don't wanna make shows like that anymore...

Nope,
What was identified as urban in the 90's,
Is non existent today,
That whole lifestyle then does not register with 90's and 00's babies,
Like it did with 70's and 80's babies.

Like what is this shyt Gabrielle Union in? Why is The Game so cotdamn bad? Who signed off on Have And Have Nots thinking it wad a good idea to have a black girl be a conniving whore while her mother cleans a white family's house?

I wanna say fukk "black TV" so damn bad.

It's not just black TV, though. When is there ever something good to watch on? All I watch is series from hbo, showtime, amc and sports.

Homeboys in Outer Space....the chick that played "Amma". :wow:

I'm STILL trying to give that bytch Amma a baby and NO ONE CAN STOP ME :blessed: :heh:

...and Hilary Banks....

...and prime Maia Campbell on "In The House" before she became a crackwhore.

Reagan Gomez on "The Parenthood." :takedat:

Nikki Cox on "Unhappily Ever After" (I know...I know, but c'mon) :lupe:

I miss the 90's. :noah:

Anyway, I watched "House of Payne" a couple times last year. It wasn't TOO awful. Pretty fukking ridiculous but I was moderately entertained.

Maybe there just aren't enough popular black comedians that want to do sitcoms out here. Seems kind of risky when reality-TV is so lucrative. I don't know.

U talkin bout old girl in the leather cat suit:ohlawd:...she ended up bein on the Parkers and man,she got thicker than she ever was on HIOS and the booty got fat:ohlawd:...her and the chick off Coming To America got a fat booty later in they career if that's what u wanna call it:whew:
I still want to see this nikka Mike Epps with a show, pure ignorance:laff:

But I don't think y'all could handle it,the uppitiness of negros today:snoop:...people just wanna see blacks and lawyers and doctors and are so worried about white people "looking at us bad":childplease:...they would just call it c00nin it up if we had a show that really catered to black people....and black comedy overal is pretty dead, hopefully with the success of Kevin Hart, whether you think he funny or not, hopefully his success will inspire more black comedic mines to do more than just be funny at the family get togethers:russ:...and improve the talent pool

I wrote a episode of a black sitcom, thought it was pretty funny but then realized its hard comin up with actual plots and plot twist and situations that haven't been done before for these people to do every episode.:mindblown:...so the people who do these shows are talented in that regard...either the jokes or the actors they have executing the jokes just don't get it accross.

U think they coulda just had any ol nikka be Martin on Martin if they had the same scripts?Martin is one of the best physical comedians ever imo and doesn't get enought credit for that...delivery,comedic timing and chemistry play a big part...hard to believe they cast some of these shows and see any sort of chemistry whatsoever between these actors:wtb:...seems like they just like sumbody as a actor and disregard how well they work with each other

I liked House of Payne.

I was surprised that it was that good knowing TPs record.

Curtis Payne >>>>

Curtis Payne was kinda funny,Mr Brown is simply annoying and feminine:snoop:...House of Payne wasn't that bad,but it goes back to the actors....what made them think the nikka from Jasons Lyric would be good at comedy?or really any of those other actors on the show outside the little girl really:heh:.....they all seemed pretty good in the serious scenes, and they comedic timing and delivery probaly could've even worked fine for a stagge play but on national television:wtb:...they just didn't have it.

I guess I take for granted in the 90's who had people on black shows like Family Matters,Fresh Prince,Martin who could deliver as serious actors when it was time to be serious,AND when it was time to be funny...Goofy azz carlton or Uncle Phile could easily transition from goofy scene to a powerful serious scene...House of Pain actors did "serious" scenes well, but lacked on the comedic side.

Meet the Browns sucked. They overused the laugh track too. :snoop:

Curtis Payne lacked comedy? cmon the way he acted to how he ragged on everybody in the show has his comedy on point.

You know we love to diss one another and that show expressed it perfectly with him. :dead:

Nah I gave him props,he was cool,I was talkin about the rest of the cast....even the greats couldn't carry a show by theyself if the people casted with them can't deliver...and he certainly wasn't no all time great character:comeon:

I'm just sayin if they casted better people for the job along WITH him it coulda been a better show.

The black community doesn't need any lame goofy tv shows anymore, enough of the escapism.

It's the same ol' shyt copying the past eras.

Face the harsh realities of life people, the black community is real gay right now.

Most of the sitcoms that you guys are mentioning had a lot of suspect people in them and they are coming out of the closet daily.

Things aren't the same anymore, we have to deal with it.

Black pride is gone and tv shows or the music game won't save it.

The internet has taken over tv anyway, what's the problem?

It's not just "black tv shows" that's terrible, it's fukking all shows. I rarely watch TV, and when I do, I'm apalled people sit and watch these scripted reality tv shows. Bruh I had to stay at a hotel not too long ago, they even got reality tv shows on fukking animal planet. It's disgusting.

Cheaper to make, find some struggling actors and pay them struggle pay and bank of them. It's a hustle :yeshrug:
