I don't know, the boy just doesn't have that star quality to me, which is weird coz he's a great performer and lyricist. But he doesn't seem larger than life. Maybe I just got old. But if I met Rakim right now I'd be in awe and probably tongue tied for a minute. If I met Kendrick I might just give him the :stopitslime: for no reason:manny:

Tha Land
:scusthov: @ anyone giving this clown ANY attention.
:dead: @ "Forced into our consciousness". coming from an Eminem stan.
A stan of a dude who can fart on a record and get spins on Alt. Rock, Pop AND Hip Hop stations.
A stan of a dude who raps about murder, drugs and incest but he rails against Black rappers daily with content that isn't nearly as ridiculous.
A stan of a dude who doesn't like music being "forced into his consciousness" but willing to listen to a rapper who clearly has thousands of dollars put into getting him spins across the country, features on television, forced into movie soundtracks etc. etc.

Remember this dude is a HYPOCRITE who peddles bullshyt for daps and rep.
@PhonZhi EPITOMIZES "Coli Militant".

Not nearly as much as Lupe fiasco :

During the trayvon martin case :

:mjpls: When pressed....

but...but...what about black on black crime brehs ?

:ohhh: Is that so ? It couldn't be because you said ridiculous and intentionally
inflammatory shyt after Zimmerman won his case. :wow:

:wow:
How quickly the coli forgets.

Kendrick says we need to respect ourselves more (something I actually disagree with)
And TheColi runs with it, Lupe fiasco spouts all this shyt and gets a pass.

Same posters hate "Trap Rappers" yelling out "Free Chill" with Lupe fiasco.
:dead: The Booth brehs.

IF you ever, EVER wanna see a mass congregation of smart dummies, look at who comments
under Lupe's tweets.

This post real ugly from start to finish

Love the post. But the downside to the bolded is that him being selected by the powers that be does the following:
It makes him king of the "conscious rappers" based off the belief that he's the most successful, but he's ONLY successful because it's being forced. Now young rappers whom dont want to spit that ignorant shyt, will look to him as someone to be like, but look at what he really is. He's EXACTLY WHAT THE OP depicted him to be.
(I like some of Kendrick's songs, but it feels like he's just reading a phrase book or black political terms and throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks

"We hate the po po"
"Alls my life I had to fight"
"Black power forever"
"We not gonna take this no more"
"I'm 100% Negu"
"I'm Kunta Kente")

So now he's raising up a new softer faux conscious mc that spits weak that is not a threat to white supremacy in any form shape or fashion and corny negros will get behind this weak shyt, simply cause it's an alternative to blatant ignorant shyt.
But it's all bullshyt.
Master p spit more meaningful shyt than kendrick, which is very ironic

Like I said, I don't dislike the guy :ehh:. I just feel all the praise is a result of the past decade of utterly shytty music (With an exception of a couple artists), people are starving for an artist with some semblance of skill. I get it, as Hip Hop fans, we long for an artist to bring back that feeling :mjcry:. You said it yourself "I believe he is truly is trying to push Hip Hop forward". So I see alot of fans longing for someone. But Kendrick is using this longing by Hip Hop fans, and exploiting that for his own benefit IMO. He's basically going through a word collage of Black Power terms. Like a little kid reciting his father's tales of the Civil Rights movement, and remembered the key words to keep the story interesting. I applaud his effort, but I'm not impressed :manny:

Alot of truths in here but i think as usual the poster Sir Biatch is going overboard

I will say this. But i think Kendrick's biggest weakness is his voice or lack of. I remember when him and Beyonce were at the BET Awards performing Freedom last year and you could barely hear his rap. I'm not doubting his sincerity in his feelings on race and everything but i think the reason why it comes across as forced is because his voice is underwhelming. And I don't think it has to do with being "monotone" really. I can't put my finger on it. But Rakim and Nas can be "monotone" and still be dope as fukk with their deliveries.

And especially with Biggie...his voice hit you like an asthma attack. People say Kendrick's voice fits him and isn't the reason but he would be looked at differently on the contrary if dudes saw this little short motherfukker and was like "His voice is like that"? If he had more of a Biggie type of voice he would get more love, he doesn't excite. Even Nas has a lowkey "ill voice"(no pun intended)

I told someone else this the other day but isn't it so embarrassing that Young MA, a dyke from NY has a more "impressive" voice than him?

She is jacking Biggie's flow and cadence but its still sad cause she is a female and draws your attention more with her rapping voice than Kendrick does.:dead: :dead: :dead:

I don't know about TPAB but i just get a feeling if K-Dot had a more impressive voice, an album like GKMC would have gotten more love from this generation
