Yeah, this is one of the name I often see referenced when it comes to "black" sci-fi. I'm not sure if having black characters in a sci-fi setting is enough for it to be considered afro-futurism though.

understood. i don't know her work that well, but i came across this green lantern series written by her, titled Far Sector.

reading it, i ended up dropping it after the 4th issue; pacing and dialogue had me thinking this was Insecure in space

As a matter of fact, Detroit Techno music (the OG Techno sound) is deeply rooted in the AfroFuturist concept, especially from one of my favorite artists of that sound, Waajeed
