What is it with FSU and Armwood?
Malcolm Lamar made it seem like he isn't fukking with FSU at all.
FSU worked to erase 'bitter taste' in Lamar's mouth on visit
Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star strong-side defensive end Malcolm Lamar, an Oregon commitment, wrapped up his official visit to Florida State on Sunday afternoon.
"It was a lot different than obviously Oregon," Lamar said. "Still the same dude, same head man, Coach Taggart. We still have that same relationship since USF."
This marked Lamar's first-ever visit to FSU, since Jimbo Fisher and his staff did not recruit the Tampa-area product.
"Nothing really stood out. Nothing I haven't seen before," Lamar said. "Favorite part of the visit? Talking to Coach Taggart.
"It started at USF, my sophomore year, he was like my second offer so I feel like he had faith in me ever since I was young to play to my full potential, so I know he will give me a chance to play for him," Lamar added on Taggart.
He added more on how Taggart has pursued him over the past three years at three different jobs.
"He just comes at me hard," Lamar said. "Some guys will recruit, then just like forget about you. He is going to continually keep coming."
Lamar added that Taggart's message in regards to FSU was simple and direct.
"With Coach T, it is about he wants to change this program and he feels I can help the team fulfill his dreams," Lamar said.
Lamar did not hide that he is disappointed that it took Taggart's hire for the Seminoles to get involved.
"I still have a bitter taste in my mouth because like FSU never offered me until he got here," Lamar said. "I feel like everybody on the staff now, I don't feel like I'm really wanted. But with Coach T coming in, it is a lot different.
"That was in the past. With Coach T here now, things could change," Lamar added.
During his exit interview, Lamar shed some light on the future of the Florida State staff after speaking with head coach Willie Taggart.
"Not really too much detail, he said pretty much that the defensive line coach [Odell Haggins] will be staying because he has been here 20-plus years," Lamar said.
Lamar did not commit on his official. He stated that he still considers himself an Oregon commitment at this time.
He also mentioned plans to take an official visit to Florida in January. He wasn't sure of a specific date.
The Ducks pledge intends to wait until National Signing Day in February to make a final decision.
