Its a reason producers traditionally don’t touch blues songs like that. nikkas can’t get jiggy with that shyt from a production standpoint. You can flip anything, but yeah Blues ain’t a popular genre to flip

There's different types of blues styles though

The Ray Charles song kanye sampled on Gold Digger is a blues song

Hip Hop is built of the Blues' Format, which all music copied and that is Call and Response

"I'm gonna cut your throat babe, gonna look down in your face
Ahh, gonna look down in your face
I'm gonna let some lonesome graveyard be your restin' place"

"Says, I'll cut your throat, mama, drink your blood like wine
I'll cut your throat, mama, now, drink your blood like wine
Say, you can't quit me and cannot neither try"

"If I send for my baby, she act a fool and she dont never come,
all the doctors in New York City,
I declare, they can't help her none."

"You know, sometimes she gets unruly and she act just like she don't wanna do.
When I get my 22-20,
I cut that woman half in two."

"I got a brand new razor
and a 44 gun.
I'm gon' cut you if you stay here.
I'm gon' shoot you if you run.
Oh, my babe, why don't you come home."

"How can I miss you, Baby, with my pistol in your mouth?"

"Yeah, I lay down last night I was thinking
Must I kill that woman? Must I kill that woman?
Oh Lord I get down on my knees
They tell me God forgivin' everything you do
But I don't care what the people say
I'm gonna kill that woman,
I'm gonna kill that woman, God knows
I'm gonna get down on my knees"

"I told her I loved her man, grave will be her restin' place
She looked at me with burnin' eyes, threw carbolic acid in my face
Carbolic acid has poisoned me, Doc Precious Wynn will tell you so
Carbolic acid has poisoned me, Doc Precious Wynn will tell you so
I got burned about the man I love, now I got to let him go
Layin' in my bed, my face burned to the bone
Layin' in my bed, my face burned to the bone
If carbolic acid don't kill me, penitentiary gonna be my home"

I didn’t say couldn’t, I said traditionally don’t like to touch. nikkas can come in here with all kind of examples of Blues flips, as it’s plenty of them, but no one about to tell me that Blues music is what producers digging for first when making beats lol. It’s the minimalistic nature of the music. Ain’t no drum breaks in Blues like that and mainly the gutairs and baselines. The baselines the best thing Blues music got as far as sampling goes. But ain’t no lush melodys or breakbeats. It’s a reason damn near every soul song been touched but it’s a lot of Blues music that isn’t been touched at all.

you're talking about that raw pre-war acoustic blues....I've heard that style utilized in Southern HipHop

and in a ton of Electronica

electric blues gets sampled all of the time in HipHop

No it don’t breh, not compared to soul. Y’all not about to sit here and try and twist like I said it never gets sampled and didn’t make the point that it’s not a popular genre to look to first when digging. That’s a fact. I don’t care how many examples of Blues flips y’all post. I know what I’m talking about
