Avery Bradley approach is the right one. Using your leverage to get other black people inside the system to change the system is the best approach. Protesting is becoming mentality exhausting and out side of the Breonna Taylor law (Rightfully deserved) what have we accomplished?

Even kyle korver wants to be on the right side of history and is willing to sit out despite the bucks great championship chances :

Bucks' Korver seeks change more than NBA title

"If my black teammates and friends and brothers feel like the best way to go about real change is to not play, I stand with them. I'm OK with that. If we think that is the best way for change, I care more about change happening than a championship," (:wow:) Korver told ESPN analyst and retired NBA player Richard Jefferson during SportsCenter's Instagram Live on Tuesday.

"On the other side, I am on a team that feels like we could win, and I have never won. I would like to win. So, is there a way to do both? I think there's a conversation there."

"But, again, I'm going to follow the lead of my black brothers and teammates on this, and I stand with them in whatever they want to do," he continued. "That's what I want to do. I want change to happen, and I want to be a part of that in whatever role that I can, but I am also waiting for the NBA. I think there's an opportunity in Orlando for us to be like, 'Hey, how can we highlight change?' The NFL's come out with the $250 million and kind of their pledge of how they're going to be about change, but what's the NBA going to do? I happen to believe that the NBA is the best league, by far, and I'm so hopeful for what they're going to come out with."

While I absolutely applaud getting more Black folk into positions of authority, the bolded is some mythological bullshyt 90% of the time. Employees virtually never change the system, even employees in management roles. The majority of power in the system is in the hands of the owners, full stop, and everyone else is tied to the desires of the owners. You could replace 15 White GM's with Black GM's tomorrow and other than giving those Black men's families a come-up, you will have done little to address the effects of White Supremacy.

You want to change the system, I think you have to go the Green Bay route and start getting billionaires out of the cut. Imagine if Kareem, Marques Johnson, Reggie Miller, and Westbrook got together and announced they were forming an ownership group of all UCLA alumni and were going to pool their money to buy a team. Let a few hundred or few thousand UCLA alum join in to purchase a portion of the majority share. I think a group like that is the only way you'd have a chance of changing the fundamentals of the system, until then you're still just doing the bidding of a rich person no matter who you hire.

Perhaps I've missed it but have any top players other than Kylie or LeBron chimed on this topic?

Really? :comeon:
I've read close to everything, minus words from Perkins, and I just don't believe that they think we're that naive to ignore what's going on in the streets so we can have a Lebron vs Giannis Final discussion. The NBA isn't going to take away from what's going on in the street.
You don't hear baseball talking like that and they have had a more hectic time to even start their season.

So they saying Black people can't focus on two things at once?:usure:

I don't think they're saying black people are incapable of focusing on two things at once. They're saying we shouldn't be outside of necessities such as work. This is the first time things have been relatively quiet enough to the point where we as a people have the proverbial microphone in our hand and can somewhat be the main focus. Once life resumes normalcy, it WILL slow our momentum.

It'll be very obvious through social media that basketball being back will introduce a major distraction for black people.

This is why it's essential that if (when it seems) they do come back that it's not just black men putting a ball in a hoop for our entertainment. There needs to be some kind of profound statement and actionable change that comes along with it.

Nothing is obvious by social media.
