So this Mexican chick (a coworker of mine ) was telling us today about her husband's parents. She just had a 2nd baby (girl) several months to a year ago, their other baby(girl) is not much older, like maybe 2 yrs old. And they recently went to visit her husband's parents in Mexico to let them see the baby.

While they were visiting, his parents kept making comments about how the new baby is "so much prettier than their other baby girl bc her skin is so much lighter". My coworker was obviously hurt by this.

Damn, how ignorant can you be to say sht like that about a baby? Much less your own grandbabies. And then they told my coworker that she is "a terrible mother", bc she went back to work after several months on maternity leave, rather than quitting her career to stay hone 24/7.

OP, would you say "some USAmericans are racist against their own ppl" or specifically separate the actions by race and not "own ppl"?


So, why do so many of you struggle so much when it's time to use the same lenses to analyze other countries in the Americas, a region that is now heavily creolized and heterogeneous?
Mexico is about to get a Jewish president, it has millions of people from Lebanon(like Carlos Slim), millions of European descendants, millions of Amerindian descendants etc...So, "own ppl" here means what exactly?

Mexican isn’t a race. What you’re saying is ultimately the same as saying “some Americans are racist against their own kind.”

I have a homie from Michoacán (southern Mexico) who is brown. Looks kinda like Nav and is constantly assumed to be Indian (from India).

He is mostly Mayan ancestry and has told me that northern Mexicans (who are mostly of European ancestry) look down on southern Mexicans like him.

Either way, from my experience, Mexicans can be a confused bunch and are either hit or miss when it comes to dealing with American CACs. They will either kiss their asses or want absolutely nothing to do with them.

Pretty much my experience. Lots of Mexicans of German descent also and as you mentioned there are plenty that are from Northern Mexico that are very racist and insular. Seen it before.

One of my homies that is a wrestling instructor I have much love for. Mexican homie that had Mayan ancestry. But I've had a sour taste dealing with some.
