In a perfect world,I dont think women should have "equal" rights per se. But I damn sure dont believe in this type of overkill and barbarinism against women.
Also this is the road you lead down when you DON'T give women equal rights. When from the beginning your perspective is "there are things they should not be allowed to have or do" you have set up an organizing principle that leads to shyt like this.
She's not allowed to be without head covering-->She must be punished-->She must be punished so she doesn't do it again--->she must be punished so severely, that she never thinks of doing this again so she knows her place.
In a perfect world, women are allowed to do whatever men can, but they make rational choices and if they make a wrong choice, they're punished fairly as a man doing the same thing would be via a formal system of justice that collects evidence, makes arguments, and gives an appropriate sentence. Not whatever this bullshyt is that goes on in islamic based societies.
Now that I think about it. This one Somali girl in HS wouldn't date me because her parents wouldn't allow it.

And this is based on what? What youve seen happen so far? History is a valuable learning tool,but futurist thinkers shouldnt be bound by it.
The issues in these societies is that men are allowed too much freedom to police their own home/women and children. In a perfect society if a woman is brutally beaten like this. We send a brutal police force to your home to beat the shyt out of the man. Maybe even chop his fingers so he can never ball up his fist again. So as you can see,in a world where women dont have equal rights. More would be required of the men. As well as harsher punishments to make sure you dont abuse your power. But I guess you will probably say its unfair that more is required of men in my imaginary society? But you already live in a society where more is required of men imo. All I would do is add more to the mans plate in certain areas. That would take some things off his plate in other areas. Because now im demanding better from women too. And yes taking certain rights away from them

Life is about choices. If you want unfettered sexual freedom then cool. But then don't complain about rampant single mothers, stds, etc. Some societies choose to have less freedom for more security. So in conservative Islamic countries like Somalia you have less freedom to be sexually liberated but then you get the benefit of having the lowest rates of HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa as well as less single mothers and other consequences of a sexually promiscuous culture.
What you can't do is pretend like you can have it all. You can't have a culture where being sexually promiscuous is accepted but then not expect there to be negative consequences from said promiscuity.

Now how many girls get knocked up by some bum and became a single mothers on welfare. It's not like our way is any better. It's simply about what type of society do you want. One with unlimited freedom and consequences or one with less freedom and less societal consequences.
I'll side with the religious conservatives on this one. I think the Islamic model of extreme modesty is better than the Western model of extreme promiscuity.
