Dragonball wasn't even the best shonen manga while it was running, that would be Yu Yu Hakusho and Slam Dunk.

Naruto's always been overhyped. Part 2/Shippuden was extremely mediocre but Part 1 wasn't that much better objectively speaking. Wave Country and the chuunin exam were legit for the most part but after that it's on the same level as most of Part 2.

Pretty much exactly this.

Don't care if it's nostalgia or whatever. Dragon Ball is still funny and awesome. Started to see the Kai version of Z and couldn't stand it. Went and searched for the original thing. Still love them long ass fights:banderas:

GT, well...

Idk man. Naurto's last saga was EASILY better then the kid buu saga.

But Naruto was never better then freiza/android saga.

Tough call. But it's safe to say the new naruto spinoff next year is gonna shyt on DBGT. Lmfao

DBZ is better than Naruto, but not the GOAT...DBZ is top ten for me, I'd have to think about it to even say top five. Naruto might make at like 9 or 10.

DBZ. That shyt is so awful. It wasnt even touching the prime shonens of its time. I swear yall caught up in nostalgia when you first started watching it in the early 2000s on Toonami. Try watching that shyt nowadays and its downright awful.

I recently got through a marathon of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and :wow: It was satisfying from beginning to end, I didnt think anime/manga could pull that shyt off. And I couldnt stand the first Fullmetal.

nikka what took you so long? Thats my top 3 manga/anime.
The way the last chapter and the last episode synced up was released at the same time was amazing. You couldnt time that shyt any more perfect. Arakawa did that shyt (a female by the way)

DBZ wins between the two, but I wouldn't consider it the GOAT.
Fullmetal Alchemist, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and One Piece >>>>>> both.

Naruto started off great with the wave country and chuunin exams arc, but after the timeskip it started going all over the place-- they wasted too much time with Uchiha drama, they ruined the whole point of Naruto's character arc with the whole 'child of destiny' revelation near the end, all the interesting villains either turned good or unceremoniously wound up getting got, and most of the side characters got relegated to very minor roles.

I can't front like I wasn't :blessed: when he wifed Hinata at the end and became Hokage-- it just feels like we could have seen more of how he actually got there-- seeing the Jounin exams, etc. Also, Sasuke got off way too easy. Naruto should've been forced to kill him, MGS3 Snake Eater status. It would be an interesting twist, Naruto getting to be the hero like he always wanted, but at a very great personal cost.

The final arc in that series was better than the Kid Buu arc in DBZ though. :scusthov:
In general, DBZ fell off because Goku got too strong and wound up making every other character in that franchise irrelevant. You get tired of him being the only character allowed to get any shine :rudy:

Either way, neither are really top 5 anime really thinking about it. There's better shows out there. Fullmetal Alchemist, Jojo's, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam 08th MS Team, Trigun, Eyeshield 21 (I need to finish that series), and Death Note (until a big plot twist about halfway in), among others.

I need to start getting into this Hunter x Hunter piff though- been hearing too many good things about it :ohhh:
(That, as well as Detective Conan and Ippo)
