The NAACP has bigger things to be worrying about than extra large soda cups. Regardless, their argument seems to be that Black business is more important than Black health, which is just sad.

that's what I was trying to figure out. so small 'bodegas' and such can't sell soda, but 7-11 can?

Yes, which is ludicrous. The NAACP are right that it essentially disadvantages small businesses, since ultimately it's the 7-11s, etc, that are everywhere and will find it even easier to disadvantage the small ones (though it's not only bodegas and small businesses who will be banned from selling them.) If they're going to do a ban like this (which is a strange idea, anyway,) it should have been the other way around. The chains and big businesses should have been banned from selling them.

I thought their argument was more along the lines of government regulation that affects black dollars is dangerous particularly when said govt regulation attempts to strip personal responsibility away from black citizens at the same time. :noah:

7-11 sells large bottles of brisk rasberry ice tea. Not sure how far they plan on extending this ban but im sure convenience stores will still sell large demonic beers and large sugary brisks. This is a joke i think.

understand that I'm just a stupid person, and I see a picture of ice-t (no coco), and "still on new york shelves". can you hold my hand and walk me to the context. does the 'ban' only cover carbonated drinks?

The NAACP is a wack organization and a shell of its former self. The only thing these guys do now is stick up corporations for money and threaten to cry racism at a moment's notice. True injustice (i.e. the unfair targeting of minorities by the judicial system or black on black violence in the inner city) barely gets any play. Although I believe OG Dubois was a high level c00n, there were a lot of eminent leaders like Medgar Evers that are probably rolling in their graves at the current state of this ridiculous organization. I can't believe I used to be a member of these clowns.

Im not sure. Im guessing its covering the size of the container used to hold the beverage. It makes little sense because ultimately an individual can get the same OZ's in a bottle of Brisk/beer at their local 7-11. I think there is an ulterior economic motive but i havent researched it yet, friend. The demonic jury is still out on this one.

Im gonna call some of my connects in high places and see whats up ill b right back.

Smh what the hell is the naacp doing? My health has been so much better since I chilled on my soda consumption. But, they're probably worried about the shyt soda companies sponsor.

Some more info.
the ban does not affect convenience stores.
NYC Judge Told Big-Soda Ban Is Unfair to Small Business - Bloomberg
The measure doesn’t apply to convenience stores and groceries that don’t act primarily as purveyors of prepared foods, which are regulated by New York State.

so bodegas are fuked. However, restaurants should be unaffected, if anything it'll save them money and more make them money on selling refills.

Movie theaters are fuked in that they make their money on the concession stand profits not ticket sales (if this is still true it used to be back in the day)

7-11 will be eating off of this big time.

The law itself is bogus. I mean rights aside there are so many ways "around" the law that it's just silly.
Also taking into consideration the places that are goign to be affected
Restaurants
Stadiums
Movie theaters

all places more affluent people attend. Poor blacks and hispanics can still double down with their ebt cards at 7-11 on crazy sized sodas.
