a certain crypto company that was hiring like crazy rescinded all their job offers
i was waiting for an decision from them too...guess that wont be good
Be careful, I've heard stories bout crypto companies offering amazing salaries and benefits only to actually to turn out to be a ponzi scheme and all the developers losing their jobs after the bag was taken

seems like damn near 95% of this thread is people doiong web-dev jobs or something similar. Anyone doing Data Science/Machine Learning Research Engineering / Scientific Computing,,,,,,or really anything far removed from web development?

I think there are a few but I don't remember their names. I know @Rawtid is a data scientist or analyst from reading her posts.

I was avoiding it because I'm sure it's filled with woman hating and misinformation. Might as well take the plunge :francis:
Breh in there tried to say that bootcamp devs are at a higher skill level than recent grads with CS degrees because they "know more languages" :laff:

:ehh: indeed.

i mainly do C++ backend development. Mainly enterprise apps . I have done a mix of things including C#, Java and some frontend/web stuff when required. The C# that I've done has been mainly GUI related based on Infragistics. J2EE but no Spring yet ...
I asked some questions about programming in the past on here to drum up discussion and based on the responses came to the same conclusion as you.
We should have more discussions on programming on here.

Not sure if this has been shared, but I know a lot of people in my circle have been asking me about learning SQL. I found this to be a really good reference for learning about DB Schemas, PK, FK, Joins, etc. Oracle Live SQL It's a cloud instance of Oracle 19c, so you won't have to worry about setting up the DB, just create some tables, practice some functions, Joins, etc. Now they even offer some tutorials too. It's been a huge help to friends who were from the business side that wanted moved over to a data analyst role, but weren't too technical yet. Hope it can help some folks get their feet wet in databases.

You can use sqllite for basic practice and for simple persistence in your programs.
Sqllte comes pre-installed on mac.
Just open a terminal and type "sqlite3".

I'm not those, but my career is in Data Engineering, which transitioned directly from BI/Dashboarding/Analytics.

I'm liking how with Spring Boot I can push input validation onto the beans with some annotations. Saving a lot of boilerplate code. More setup in the bean but now the front end can't fukk things up.

Brehs with jobs, how are y'all feeling with all of these layoffs happening in tech right now?
I'm pretty solid at my company, and i see a ton of data engineering jobs on linkedin, so I'm not feeling it that much. One of our clients, we did see one of the lesser technical people get laid off this week.

Anybody has any experience working with backstage?

i started an internship last Tuesday (hopefully an offer by the end of August) , and my project is to move a bunch of their tools to backstage.
Doesn't seem too difficult , but its all new to me.
