I also added on the backend an admin role , to be able to delete users and approve images.

for the backend Java with spring-boot , spring data and spring security. Also maven.
front-end was just react . the repo is on GitHub which i can share if anybody is interested.
hosting the backend on heroku , frontend on netlify.

It doesnt matter how big of a smile and thumbs up they give you in the interview, they can still ghost your ass like they never met you

Not sure what this means. But I work 100% remotely for a US company while in another continent....if that's what you're asking.
Yeah that's what i mean.
For example , im about to start a new 100% remote job but i know some companies prevent workers from working abroad due to tax issues.
but i would still keep my legal residence in the U.S and bank and all that . Just spend a few months in the Dominican Republic. Even the same timezone.

I dont think spending a few months in another country is an issue as long as you do your work as expected. Now moving permanently would cause some issues because you'd end up getting taxed in 2 countries unless do do some paperwork that allows you to only be taxed in your current country of residence. Not sure how tax laws are in the US so cant help you there.

just keep yourself below the level to become tax resident (even over > 1 year) and make sure (if you haven't already) that your visa alows for this (to keep HR happy).
a digital nomad visa can guarantee no local income taxes in some countries. a few caribbean countries have one. maybe dom rep will add one soon.
