https://angel.co/job-collections/no-work-experience (startups hiring people with no experience)

https://angel.co/job-collections/companies-that-hire-coding-bootcamp-graduates (startups hiring bootcamp graduates)

https://angel.co/job-collections/six-figure-jobs (startups hiring people with less than 3 years of experience)

1) I just want to show up, code, and go home. I've been told repeatedly that startups are unstable. As an employee you have to wear multiple hats, take on multiple roles, work unstable hours, etc. Sounds very stressful.

2) A completely different topic: How do you guys deal with the 'black tax' (Urban Dictionary: Black Tax).

The extra money that black professionals are expected to give every month to support their less fortunate family and extended families.

The hidden “black tax” that some professionals of color struggle with

I'd immediately, and permanently cut off my family if I ever got a 6-figure job. I don't want anyone leeching off of me or expect me to pay their bills. I'd be fukking pissed if I'm ever in a situation like that. Going to work everyday working hard only to give away your hard on money to some fukking bum. shyt would put me in a homicidal rage.

Haven't posted here in a bit,

So far, I haven't gotten anything. I was close to Sys Admin gig but they are taking their sweet time doing a background check. I applied to some more things on Angelist and I have gotten 95% ghost-rate off that site. The only company that followed up to schedule an interview was the one I'm currently dealing with. Indeed has funny characters on it for local businesses. One company told me they finna pay me 40k in Jersey City with no overtime pay.:mjlol:

Something is better than nothing. You could have tried to negotiate 55K-60K then work there for a year and bounce.

(I'm out of state btw ) They weren't willing to negotiate, I told em at least pull 55 maybe 60. But they were hella firm on their stance.

:picard: and you didn't immediately offer the fade? That's barely over half what I made as an entry level Software Engineer, and I was under market value.

:wow: Damn. Idk man. Might want to start looking at that Masters degree depending on how long you been looking depending on how bad you want it. Then push for a 4.0 .

I wish you continued luck on your search. Hang in there.

I asked if they could at least pay me overtime. I don't think I could pay for an apartment & commute with 40k

I recommend applying out of state. Austin, Seattle, LA. The market is good enough that you'll get hits and you should be able to collect 80+. It was scary taking that leap of faith but it paid off :yeshrug:. Make your money, land a remote position, then move back if you want.

:mjcry: I know that's going to be my future when I get my degree. :to: If only Houston had a tech scene.
