If I have the most valuable diamond in the world along with the 3rd most valuable diamond in the world, and you only have the 2nd most diamond in the world, my diamond is still the most valuable.

I'm not saying a player should get MVP if his teams 7-9 and misses the playoffs just because he throws 50 TD's, but when a guy can lead his team to the playoffs with a record with maybe 1 or 2 losses less than his contemporaries despite playing in a tougher division and with a squad displaying such huge shortcomings around him compared to those other players I think that plays a role in the valuable part.
