Obviously he's been in a lot of classics but truthfully there isn't one performance I can say "he got robbed of an oscar for that". He's always good, even great but not amazing oscar level performances. Although I do feel he's gotten better and better as the years go on and an oscar's not too far off.
Hell no...he was good in that but Daniel Day Lewis got robbed that year for best actor in Gangs of New York. That was an all time great performance and murdered Leo himself in the same movie.

If that was the same year then I agree that should have been DDL 's win for gony. But catch me if you can was Leo's best overall performance. Definitely Oscar worthy IMO.
It is more of an indictment on the Academy than it is on DiCaprio that Mira Sorvino, Halle Berry, Roberto Benigni, and Gwyneth Paltrow have Oscars while he doesn't.
He should have won for Gilbert Grape especially when you consider the winner of the supporting Oscar that year was Tommy Lee Jones for the fukking Fugitive.
