After thinking about this a bit more, if not Theron (who again, is probably too high above Marvel's pay grade), Natalie Dormer would probably be my second pick, although she had a very small part in the first Cap movie so that might be a problem.

Maybe not a game changer like what RDJ's Iron Man became but i think Captain Marvel can certainly snag that white american female audience if Disney hits a home run with the concept... as a man, I don't even care about the colonel vs recruit thing as long as the actress looks good. Maybe women try to down play it idk but lowkey i feel that's the appeal of WW/Supergirl anyway, the whole 'sexy/feminine/desirable yet physically dominating' schtick. Granted, Disney revamped Carol's entire costume b/c they likely felt it was too sexualized, so now she's completely covered up, but as long as whoever they cast is good looking (and can act), it's all good to me.
