So when are we going to get a 30 for 30 for Arvydas Sabonis?

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
was coming in to say this. It's a REALLY dope watch

breh, one of the best things about being over here in SA is I get to see a lot of Euro/Intl basketball....if I was a HS kid, I'd say fukk college and go play for one of the teams there....you can tell they stress the style of ball that could keep you in the league for a good 7-10 years and you'd learn more there than the "amateur" game

It's insane how much they love basketball there -

In Lithuania, basketball is second only to God

At some point in time there's going to be another 7'1" - 7'3" dude from over that that is in the mold of Arvydas, it's a given that they produce another incredible big man.

I would have skipped College for Europe if I were a top 5 draft pick, shyt seems like a fun way to spend a year and make a million or two. Speaking of SA, you think a basketball gym could work over there, like an old warehouse converted into a several courts where people pay to play :lupe: ? And why the hell aren't they producing any type of basketball talent :wtf:

dude I have no idea why. I just just found a second court to go ball at here. It's a few dudes who can really run but everyone else just tries to hard to emulate what they see on TV. Plus futbol/rugby are like football and baseball over here. You have to go to a college campus to see an actual court but you can drive 5km's and see rugby/futbol fields like churches in the south. Missed out on going to watch a tourney that had SA, Angola, Congo, and several other teams last weekend. NBA is suppose to have a couple of preseason games here this year and I've been begging to the visa office to let me know who's coming but apparently it's super secretive for some reason. I bet they'll have the Soweto bball camp like they did when Kobe came over and held one. They love the Gawd over here. I'm gonna try to do a SA Coli meet up since we should be able to get as many tickets as we want.

That shyt is crazy fam, they should be a legit hot spot for talent considering how developed they are, there's gotta be a gang of kids that are too tall for Rugby and footie out there that need a sport to play. I'd assume some courts might be able to get some steady clientele if they were actually there. That's dope, NBA games in Capetown I'm assuming, if they want to show out they need to send the Warriors there as well, let em see the light bright coloured kids givin out work.

Nah, it's here in Joburg. Just guessing whatever team Sefolosha plays for will be one of the teams. Met a kid who was like 6'8 that played rugby. Had an NBA body and all. It's just more $$ and love for the game of rugby here. Most players I've played with here are all Afrikaner too. Chick once told me that if you had a ruby, cricket, soccer & basketball player in the same room at a groupie convention, the basketball player wouldn't get any love. That's how little they think of the game. Strange thing is, I've met a shyt load of Dallas Cowboy fans here

In-laws are from SA. All my nephews play footie (soccer). Some of them are pretty good and athletic. They had a hoop in their driveway, but soccer was the sport. Although the Afrikaners love their rugby.

Would you be thinking about a Sabonis documentary if his son wasn't playing in the tournament?

Been thinking about it for years honestly since I wrote a paper on the cold war in undergrad but yes watching his son play this weekend reminded me of how forgotten Arvydas's legacy is preinjury in this country

Jerry West even admitted about 4 years ago that the next great talent is in Nigeria, south Africa and the western part of African. The athletes are similar (including the Congo) to what you get in the US. You cab see how European teams and now getting talent out of there. Hell they know often times that is the only way they can compete when they play team USA.

Years ago it was american universities raiding acri a for basketball talent. Now it is European countries. Buy trust if they ever get the training those euro teams get it is fukking over. Look at the damage that France causes and from a population wise they don't even have the athletes.

Can you imagine some Nigerian billionaire investing in the national basketball program. Wow shyt would be over for everyone outside the US.

Just watched a good part of that game.
Sabonis and Robinson were playing pretty equal, both the best players.
#7, #100 on USSR (I believe #7 is Marcioulinis, who played for the warriors) and number #4,#9 just making a lot of veteran plays, back screens, flops, cuts, they are clearly more experienced. US is trying to win with brute strength but the officiating is pretty bad both ways and the US isn't allowed to be as physical as they want to be

Normally this is what happens to the US in international play. They are too big, mobile and fast. It is a way for the refs to even the playing field. FIBA is known for this shyt especially for big dudes in the paint. The USA players are just too athletic and the refs call tricky to tack shyt on them.

You see the same shyt on African countries too. Remember this past year with the Congo getting on Spain ass physically so the refs began to call cheap shyt. Them African Kat's was all in Spain's ass.

Also about that game. Robinson matched and exceeded Sabonis in points and had one less rebound. Folks forget that and really push the narritive that Sabonis destroyed him like Hakeem in the 1995 playoffs. That shyt just isn't true and it is dishonest.

Sabonis did not destroy team USA that game. Now Schmidt he destroyed team USA.
