Need to be grooming a presidential candidate for 2024. Biden was elected because Trump was the far worse option. I don't think he has a chance of being re-elected on his own merit and believe the Democratic party should be getting some primary challengers ready. He's also way too old.

He needs to make it clear that he can reduce federal student loans, but any private student loans needs to be handled by Congress. It's the law.

He got BIF passed, he better show that it's doing something.

He should be talking about domestic production across the board. Use it as a job-creation measure, inflation mitigator, and supply-chain undisruptor.

Talk about passing legislation to make abortion federally legal. Then make marijuana federally legal.

Well I mean...I don't disagree but none of this really answers the question of what Dems should be doing currently.

I'm not sure what they should do frankly. They seem to still want to pass the second part of the BBB plan, and are prostrating themselves for Manchin's approval. It'll be some watered down bill that no one cares for, if it passes (I doubt it.)

Do they create some type of blueprint or pledge of what they'll do when they get enough power? Eh, not sure how when the perception is "you have the presidency, house, and senate." I think the real progress is going to have to come from elsewhere, specifically in terms of ensuring a challenger can nuke Sinema in AZ in 2024. Manchin seems untouchable from the left so no point there. If they can win the very winnable PA seat this November (Fetterman) and get an actual democrat in office in Arizona to replace Sinema maybe there'd be reason for optimism.

Just given the general state of the country.

And I mean as far as gun control, as far as abortion, as far as inflation/economy/gas prices, as far as not getting wiped out in midterms, Biden's approval rating, Ukraine/Russia, etc. Considering the current electoral situation (a far right Supreme Court that'll strike down anything they can, 50/50 Senate split with two fake Dems that won't remove the filibuster, etc.), what do you think the Democrats as a party SHOULD be doing that's actually within their power and won't either be tanked by the Senate or struck down by the Supreme Court?


I'm not being facetious either, I don't know the answer. At this point it kind of seems like they're fukked no matter what happens.

It's getting to the point where I think their lack of initiative is intentional. That's why I think Biden of all people was pushed to be President by the establisment. It really makes no sense at all. At minimum can give CDC additional funding to study gun violence. Years ago a bill to do that was blocked and lobbied to be blocked by the NRA. As for abortion, Biden can federally fund organizations like Planned Parenthood or use federal authority to supercede decisions made by states on this issue. There are a lot of things that could be done. They just won't do it.

Outside of that could address of the issue of corporations buying up a lot of housing. There are HOAs accross the country working on that. In the HOA contract they have provisions like not being able to rent until five years after the purchase.

He’s not wrong. Progressives need to mirror the tea party to have any chance but are too afraid to go entirely scorched earth. Democrats are stuck between people who have no will to fight Republicans and progressives who have no will to fight the conservative Democrats they complain about. The Tea Party made John Boehner’s life unbearable. The progressive caucus folding on BBB ended any chance they had for respect.
