You can't really get on Phelps, he really didn't pitch too bad in that inning. A couple of freak plays that went the Tigers way, but it wasn't that bad. Any pitcher's gonna run into a lil trouble with that part of the lineup.

And his control was off causing him to fall behind and therefore have to throw a pitch hitters can manage. And he gave up a lead off walk which is a no no. Bottom line I don't trust him like that, especially against the meat of Detroit's order.

But it's obvious that Joba is not healthy enough to pitch as of yet. He clearly would of pitched against the meat of the order anytime.
