I saw it today..great movie...my only gripe is
Crimson Typhoon was killed off to easy, they just made him look like a complete fukking bum..that was the dopest looking Jaeger, they could of at least had it get destroyed while at least taking out a Kaiju:damn:

Well most of the fights take place in water
Because they don't want the Kaiju making landfall

Jaegers climb over bridges not bust right through them causing further destruction

Maybe superman should watch this and learn a thing or 2

I noticed this too. My OCD was waiting for Gipsy to buss through that bridge Godzilla style. Good look Del Toro.

When was the last time you saw a live-action with mechs and giant monsters with this level of CGI?
When was the last time you seen Hollywood produce a movie like this?

This is a dream come true for fans of mech based anime, and Toho kaiju films (Gamera trilogy :lawd: )

I see u ignoring the shytty dialogues, piss poor acting, and borderline non existent and predictable plot :mjpls:

Still dope movie though behind MOS.

The plot was supposed to be predictable. Del Toro said that already when he called the plot "pure simplicity"- he was deliberately avoiding the over-serious, faux-complex, grim/dark/gritty take on these kinds of movies in favor of an old school, fun, kid-friendly approach. The dialogue and acting was definitely bad, but so was the acting and dialogue in Man of Steel, which also had a predictable plot that was a rehash of an earlier superman film (the entire Zod thing) mixed with Nolan's Batman Begins (the first half of the movie was structured exactly like BB.)

Overall, both movies were supposed to be fantastical spectacles- Pacific Rim succeeded at this, because it wasn't trying to be too many things at once, and played to its strengths, while Man of Steel mostly failed because it tried to be complex and dark and serious, but failed to put the time and effort into being interesting from an action-perspective. It was like watching a DBZ episode. The fights in Pacific Rim were much more visually interesting and detailed.

Saw this in real iMAX with my mom and girl
Absolutely loved it, I feel like having a jaeger/ kaiju fight at home.
I'm kind of pissed about crimson typhoon and the rooskie team going down so quick. I feel like they always do that in movies, introduce people, give them next to zero development and then kill em off.
I know budgetary constraints played a role but come on man

Del Tormo's eye is unparalleled. Sure we can talk about the simple cliche plot, but the sheer attention-to-detail was dope as hell. The color palette and the little nuances and details were incredible :damn:

The characters were also very well cast (Charlie Day and Burn Gorman were great, Elba was the shyt, Perlman was hilarious). Mako and Raleigh were a bit corny but it didnt really matter to me in the end.

shyt made me feel like a kid again :wow:

Some actual creativity in Hollywood :blessed:
